I remember well the press around John Chambers retirement as CEO. He clearly said he intended to promote "the new CEO" to Chairman of the Board in a 2 year timeline. 2 years from JC stepping down as CEO will be late July, 2017.
Does anyone think this will happen? How significant is it if a promotion does NOT occur?
@4fvu - clearly you're not in EMEAR. The most cringeworthy moments each year have been the EMEAR theatre sessions. Nothing else comes close. Nothing. The Pokemon session last year defied both description and belief. The person that let themselves be talked into that needs to give their head a wobble. I cannot wait to see what's in store for this year.

It's all been carefully choreographed. JC never planned for Chuckles to be a success. The aim was to drive down the share price and then bring back a certain Canadian ex-EVP on his white charger, wearing his barbarian helmet, to take the fight to the competition and save the day. The share price will be back up to $100 by Christmas and we'll all be paper zillionaires. It's all going to happen at GSX. You heard it here first.

JC isn't coming back. He's off traveling the world, getting paid to speak and writing blogs on LinkedIn. He blew it when he claimed that he could predict all of the industry shifts and then badly missed with SDN and Cloud.
