Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cloud pivoting again?!?!

Project Harmony (aka InterCloud Part 3 or is it 4?), pivoting again. Customers don't want it, but the SVPs have convinced ELT that Enterprises do. All the employees that were acquired are "resting and vesting" or have left for greener pastures. It's a shame as I heard some of them were quite good. I'm expecting this group to acquire a 4th company in the next few months (MetaCloud, Piston, ContainerX already), as leadership can't figure out what to do.

There are some really dumb people on this site. It's becoming clear what Cisco's actual problem is. No wonder they are laying off so many of you halfwits.

Not everyone is Resting, there's plenty of people making powerpoints to justify their overblown salaries. Half the management in this group has no idea how to have a conversation without a powerpoint. I've been on calls where the engineer didn't have a powerpoint and was blasted by the VP. I wonder how much time an engineer is supposed to dedicate to developing vs. creating powerpoints for management? The sad thing is this group bought a company that specialized in containers and yet management still has no idea how to make money off of them.

The only people making money in Cloud at Cisco are those that are Resting and Vesting.

TidalNewscale/IAC/MetaPod/Cliqr/Metcloud... Really? If you've decided to be an enabler of hybrid-cloud, then do it! Put an end to the BU infighting, insist on meeting product release schedules, build a culture that demonstrates thought leadership...

Private Cloud: You fart, it makes no sound, it does not smell. It's your own business.

Public Cloud: That lunch buffet pizza is erupting in a high-decibel flatulence salvo, echoing over your recorded webex presentation, just as you start talking on slide three. Cut your presentation short to take that urgent cell phone call, and ask your co-worker to finish the presentation before the aroma drifts.

Over on this side of the pond (UK), nobody is interested in buying metacloud, guess managed Openstack isn't that exciting anymore. Wonder what we paid for them. Heard we have less than 75 customers world-wide.
