Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Major layoffs coming

After NXP acquisition closes major layoffs coming. Synergy will come from American layoffs. They can't lay off Europeans because they are organized labor and they can't lay off Indians because they are cheap labor. Only place left is layoffs in San Diego. Polish your resumes. Don't wait until last minute

@NNQimNK-7voi, this is a rhetorical question right? It will come from employees: benefits, bonuses, perks, and jobs.

Where will the money come from when q has to pony up another 5B to close nxp deal ? Salary, dividends, or corporate jet fuel?

You housing clowns are living in a different reality.

The housing market doesn't care about Qualcomm. It's driven by Chinese cash buyers.

If you're buying a house, that's great news. If you're one of the unlucky ones being laid off, you'll get stuck having to sell your house at the same time a few thousand are trying to do the same. Not a good situation.

Sell early, leave early and avoid the crowds in the fall

Let's hope it's at least 10%! There are no houses for sale under a million in San Diego anymore. If a few thousand people were forced to sell all if a sudden, that would do wonders for inventory.

Word is across the board in QCT, on the order of 8-15% depending on synergies, lawsuits, situation with largest two customers, etc.

They will wait for NXP acquisition to close but they may do two rounds one before close and one after depending on the above.

Good luck! I have an offer and leaving soon...

The people who will not be impacted are the ones who kiss their VP's asses the hardest. More useless the VP, the better. As long as they are part of the good old boys club

They are already lining up in front of PTE godfather MC and SoC mafia KK offices to start the a-- kissing

There was a time long ago when QC hired long term, quality employees and invested in their success. The hedge fund guys and Wall Street banks have made sure to stamp that out. Now they hire 2nd rate H1Bs and domestic employees as part of the on-demand, gig economy. They ramp up when the demand is there, and ramp down just as quickly.

What leadership?

They hire and surge when they need to get work done then turn around and lay off the hard working engineers who deliver projects.

Remember SRP? They hired until the last minute then laid off new hires and old hires alike

I don't trust the leadership. They made it clear time and again that the employees are not their priority

There will be no layoff for sure. Qcom is hiring a lot now. Natural loss already surpassed the functional boundary. They might had the plan. but not any more.

Imagine the chaos if SM or CA or any executive came clean and admitted that there will be massive layoffs after NXP merger. They would never admit openly although they are promising to wall street and investors privately. It's all about working the engineers hardest until they are no longer needed so they can fill their pockets.

Why wait

Please layoff Ma'kal this time, he has survived 20+ years licking directors and VP's. He is over 65 too.

In this layoff, as usual, Indians are safe; it's the American workforce that is going to get hit.

Look how many QC job postings on LilnkedIn. I've never seen anything like it. That seems to be the Mother Of All Layoffs (MOAL) event.

A very high level executive confirmed privately today. Apparently, SRP will look like nothing compared to what's coming

Expect major layoffs and decrease in your paycheck. Given the lawsuits, uncertainty and NXP pressures, bonus and salary increases will be next to nothing this year again

This "rumor" seems to be real

Makes sense that something will fall out of the nxp merger but I smell a troll with the OP and couple responses. No proof, just hype to scare for some selfish reason.

You are naive if you think they care about their engineers or whether you just moved to San Diego. It's all about feeding the top brass and keeping wallstreet happy. Nobody is immune from what's coming. Good luck

SM is on the record staying $500m in synergies due to NXP merger. If you work at QC, you should be able to divide $500m by $200K and get a number.

All the smart people already left. The ones who stayed are too dumb to see what's coming. They live in their fantasy world in San Diego. I will hate to see so many dreams and lives crushed. I already have an offer from Intel and resigning next week. So long s---ers
