Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

WHQ?

Anyone have an idea how many FTE's were let go yesterday at WHQ? It feels like most of the supposed 1,400 were there, maybe more. And it feels like most of those of us with at least 5 years or more were axed. A blood bath.

I heard approx 200-250 was let go in the June 15 purge, but that includes WHQ and IT at Aloclek.

Where are the layoffs coming from? Is it all IT?

This happened years ago, 96/97 with Fila and Avia. I worked at mile in those years, and they made it like you should be paying them to work for them.

I worked for reebok nearly 16 years, and thru constantly layoff people off throughout the years. They set is up with a place that would help us with resumes and so on. That was fine, but the issue was ALWAYS management, not those on the bottom.

And before you think Adidas is great, ,they picked up reebok, took anything of value, and made our sales decline while theirs went up, then looked at reebok like, wtf is your problem.

Pretty much like owning 2 race cars, and one guy who wants to win, takes the tires off his other car, and somehow expects results with the now tireless car.

More Layoffs. They keep coming. Another week of bloodletting.

" Divest" starting with HR leadership. Laying off 2% of the workforce is a reflection of the failure of HR to lead.

Nike IT is just so messed up they have horrible leadership and it will only get worst as I feel at least half the people they laid off are the ones that were truly passionate about Nike. All these Bank of America VPs that joined tech are running it to the group especially the one senior director from BOFA that runs the PMO group fake and horrible person and will backstab you to advance her own career. Low Gallup polls but still was promoted. Let's see if they care about their fake Gallup poll this year as they claim they do. Work for Nike but not Nike IT

After 11 years I was discarded like a piece of trash. No compassion, nothing... I will move on but this will leave deep scars and, as I feel right now, quite a bit of hatred.

So long...

Loyalty, ha! What made me feel better after I was slapped in the face after my many years of service and only a few left to retire, was buying myself and my family some nice new Adidas sneakers.

Nike should be ashamed of themselves. The way they treat their employees is a disgrace.

So much for loyalty. Loyalty is a one way street. Of course when the going's good, nothing matters. Everyone can frolic in the same river. Now that the water is receding, people have to be axed so that the rest of them can still frolic. What's different is that the landscape and the customer have changed a lot. Does Nike have what it takes to re-calibrate? I doubt.
