Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

So where's the BIG layoff everyone has been telling us about?

I don't want to diminish the pain of anyone who has been or will be RIF'ed, but thus far the layoffs at Oracle have been targeted and modest - not much different than than any other large company that cleans house on an annual basis. I simply don't see the doom and gloom some have been predicting.

There have been many layoffs, but remember Oracle is a huge org, so 50 people in a single geography doesn't seem many until you add up all those small numbers internationally and many have gone. The Busines is restructuring and changing its go to market strategy. Inevitably the axe will fall and it's going to happen numerous times over the next 2-3 years.

It has been divided up over months. Rumor has it about 2,500 each month. This will occur month after month until 26,000 have been laid off. We are at about 12,500 for FY18. The numbers have been hidden by hire and replace with college kids and other lower salaried individuals. Its not over.

@NPBQzOe-1fee : where exactly has this org been rolled out? I don't see anything similar in EMEA, NA or APAC (talking about HW)

Happening slower than predicted but the direction is clear, just a question of time

"The idea of March" huh? Haha...

The OP had a good question, why do you people automatically attack anyone that questions the unproven rumors on this board?

Again, the question is about the predicted 20K layoff, which has not happened. Stop changing the subject.

Oh, yeah, before you say it, I'll deny it for you. I don't work for HR.

1 person laid off without trying to repurpose is 1 to many so you forget each person un-fairly laid off until its your turn dummy

It's all about cutting costs so SC and MH can get yet another cash bonus, after that they don't care. Running oracle into the ground and getting very wealthy doing that. LE to dumb and senile to notice, or maybe he just doesn't have it in him anymore

The layoff was anything but modest in sales consulting. Most of the pillar and hardware SCs are gone as of June 1. As predicted by a post on this site, now there's only one Enterprise Cloud Architect on each account. Technically, the ECA is supposed to work on cloud deals only (10% of Oracle's tech revenue), but the sales reps now have no help with on-prem deals. They have no choice but to use the ECAs. ECAs are expected to know 100 IaaS and PaaS products. Plus, Oracle's "cloud" strategy is still heavily focused on hardware, (the Oracle Cloud Machine, the Exadata Cloud Machine, which are just leased on-prem hardware), so the ECAs need to know hardware too. Yep, one ECA is expected to know 150 products. Oh yeah, and the ECAs don't even get accounts to the Oracle cloud, apparently because Oracle cloud data centers are over capacity, so they need to share unreliable demo accounts that don't work! How can the ECAs learn the products if they can't log in? It's a complete disaster.
