Amazon Whole Foods Prime poised to sink the USS Walmart

Ah yes the final hammer blow right in the smashed face of Walmart just when it looked like CEO ML could save the day by buying every f---ing e-commerce site in existence Amazon hits Walmart on the low end and the high end in just the last 2 weeks. What will ML do? What new rabbit will he pull out of his hat? Some cool cart technology? Perhaps a subscription service? Lower prices? Who knows but I am sure he has some idea in that glourious polished bald head of his. Come on ML save the day buy a company or hell sell off something valuable anything to get some attention and bump up that stock price. The Jet.com darling better think quick or else Amazon is going to come after you with nothing less than hell fire and automation. Bottom line Walmart is going to get its a-- kicked. Walmartians I suggest that when you see the rats running... run in the same direction. Rats run from water on a sinking ship and the USS Walmart is going down in flames!

@Mike. Awwwww.... did I hurt your feelings, 'snowflake.' You attacked people. Some very good people in ISD are old school 'mainframers.' Some very good people are being RIFd. Others? They deserve it. Adapt or die.

You must be one those at the HO living in constant fear of losing your job because YOU bring no value to the company hiding behind your bullying attitude. Maybe in middle management that is top heavy? Or one of those that haven't bothered to update your skills in 15 years? Or, I got it, you're on the Production Control Team which is another team that needs to be gutted. Or better yet, how did you put it? You're one of those 'old school fcks' hiding behind the same skills you've used for 10 years and haven't updated and refuse to. Now you're on the edge of obsolescence and that makes you scared because you won't be able to get another IT job?

@5epr Are you another @$$-kissing WM kool-aid drinker? The entire ISD, from the day I walked in the door, is, and continues to be, full of red tape and bureaucracy. A 15 minute change can take up to 3 days (or more) to be installed into production. I worked in 5 IT shops before WM and never saw such nonsense. Add to that all the reviews a change needs to go through within your team and then having to chase down your manager to sign-off on it. And don't forget all the additional rules imposed by the team that implements the change (moves it into production). Then you have the customers that don't have the time to validate the changes.

Don't talk about people bringing down WM, look at the idiotic processes.

I'm actually surprised WM has survived this long.

I had no exposure to the technology area of Walmart so I don't know what went on there. But it is true that if Walmart doesn't win the technology battle going foward, it's going to be a problem.

That goes the same for all of retail though. Get behind on technology and you're toast. Too much competition in the retail space not to innovate in that area.

I have a great respect for this company. Its the old school fcks bringing this company down. All the old school Walmart associates in areas like ca7, mainframe, audit, compliance e.t.c fcks needs to be booted out very badly asap...they are killing this company with bureaucracy ...I work in sap area and its a nightmare to be agile and put changes in production... on the name of sox compliance audit b---s---.. I bet all the idiots complaining about ML in above comments belong to the mainframe or sm old bull f*cks area...get a life you morons and leave this company for good before ur a-- gets fired!

ML, sold an online business to a company with ambition, a couple of years later, he left. The company he sold was closed and ajB fired the incompetent workforce! Failure! The only winners were the team. DM has trusted a fool with the future of ecommerce for WM. A company based in NJ, using Excel for operations! Not an enterprise!

JB has acquired Whole Foods, in a master stroke, that enables home delivery in concentrated markets, to premium customers, that are not price conscious!

Walton 'family' is a story! That's all. It's not the brainwashing information that's shared at meetings. It's an excuse for persecution.

Just my humble opinion. All technical people are leaving, as that's the corporate plan. Who knows why? A truly foolish strategy!

I think service is going to be the differentiator going forward. For that you need people.

The PEOPLE make the difference. Walmart sure as heck doesn't act like they believe that anymore. These days it seems like the only thing they want from their people is for them to leave.

Believe in the magic ?!?! then you're drinking a stronger Kool-Aid and should not be showing up at work .

A magic is gone I've spoken to many many senior leaders and they too are very concerned with what's going on

@slm You're one of the few. Most of the people I know won't broach the subject of whether they are looking for another job or if they have they resume updated and posted. I do. And knowing that I probably won't make it another 5 years in the current environment, I am gone if I get an offer making as much as I am now. WM has no loyalty to it's associates. Why should I? Why should anyone?
