Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Amd Ryzen, Thread Ripper, Naples + Apple A10/A11/A1X Fusion Chips - Spells Trouble for Intel?

The value of AMD Ryzen, Thread Ripper, Naples seems like it would present a problem for Intel and take away some of its marketshare (more and more over time). Can X299 platform save Intel? Are they stuck with higher margins (higher prices) in order to satisfy share holders and destined to loose some marketshare no matter what they do?

There's also Apple A10 which has been benchmarking pretty well against ultrabook Core i7 chips! It's only a matter of time before they make their own laptop and maybe desktop chips. That would cost Intel a big customer.

What is the upside for Intel on any side? Server, Workstation, Enthusiast, Ultra Portable?

Even their SSD is eclipsed by Samsung.

That leaves IoT?

Apple can't wait to smoke us and leave us like the dinosaur we are. My friends who have been on the receiving end of having to tell Apple that xyz chip will be a quarter late said they more than humiliate us. Talk down to us like we're kids. Saying things like, "Are you proud of yourself? Is this the best you can do?"

We're in the long-tail death slide.

Don't forget Qualcomm snapdragon which can now run full Windows with a 2-digit ASP.

Intel is trying to hide in the high end by introducing i9 and other high ASP SKUs. This is a sign of weakness. Volumes drive the company - especially one with fabs and make no mistake - the volume is drying up fast. BK and his band of merry clowns are trying everything under the sun to fill up those gigantic fabs.
