Bezos will prob hold Mackey accountable to continue to push the 300mil savings (reduced labor, renegotiate contracts and streamline operations) all while bezos learns the grocery model. This will be to improve margins. Then he'll clean house. Management style. I imagine trimming dead weight from stores will come early. Mr M's days are numbered

@1kua: You're right! Amazon doesn't know perishables. And what it has taken the major grocery/perishables operations 80 years to perfect isn't going to be learned anytime soon. Case in point: Our clueless global and regional leadership hasn't gotten it right either, which is why we're in this mess to begin with.

. when you search the web for amazon severance, lots of interesting stuff comes up. First I do not think you will see layoffs for at least a year, amazon does not know perishables and will take time to learn , so by that time WFM severance would not apply and you would be under their severance plan. They do seem to have one, if you believe what is on the web, they also have all workers sign 18 month non compete agreements, if severance is offered you may have to sign a non disclose, and after acquiring zappos they continue a zappos trend and started yearly offering money to employees to leave, this way getting rid of dead weight likely cheaper than firing them in some states, that is brilliant They do have a lower cap for entry level workers , team members and I would bet that might change at first, it's not much lower than WFM, but one dollar a hour for that many affected employees would amount to a savings, I can't imagine all of their current capped out employees would be okay with earning less than a stocker or cashier . I wish everyone luck, future out positions that will be valuable and move into one of those if you wish to stay and start prepping for that drug test like most companies use.

But now that someone else owns us they may not do that kind of thing. Most dont. That was actually a cool thing WFM did.
