Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

St. Pete layoff?

Seems like either everyday there is a new rumor or someone is leaking information! Was told that a leader was telling their associates to go ahead and look for jobs because something is rolling down soon.. (leader was apparently crying) hmmmm can anyone confirm that their leader said this?

The rent for office space the size of St. Petersburg office can range from $250,000 + a month. I think closing the large offices is smart.

There is an overall plan to reduce real estate because so much is unused. It's happened everywhere. Just means more work at home. The mid year tool does not populate in the talent center till later in the month. Then everyone in the company has to have a completed review by August 14. Don't read into these things. It's the annual routine that has been in place for years.

Don't sweat the mid yr summaries. they haven't been scheduled yet. There is a HI announcement basically reminding us to get ready.

Per an HR presentation, Talent Centers are pretty much never used in the hiring process. They are a way for your department to track your progress.

I have been on the 5th floor of the Cincinnati Care Center Recently. There are desks, computers and and facilities for at least 500 people. I saw 2 other people on the floor that day.

Thanks. We are all so on edge we are reading into things unnecessarily.

Don't worry about being asked to update talent profiles. My leader has been reminding my team several times a year for a couple years now. It's routine.

That makes sense, thanks.

I agree you should have things updated at all times with the constant changes and unknowns, but please note that midyear checkins are coming up and leaders want profiles updated to make their job easier for these. So the focus on talent profiles may not necessarily be a bad thing.

We were told to update talent profile too. Is that something they focus on once a year or is this new?

I'm a PHC. I can't remember if we were told to update them last summer or not. I don't want to read into it much if it's just something they check off the list each yr.

You know layoffs are coming when ur leader wants to focus on updating your talent profile in your one on ones....its not a matter of if... Its when!

It is a sad environment where many of us feel we can't even ask our managers about something as simple as a building closing. I guess that is why this site is so active these days.

That makes sense

They are closing the office because so much of the workforce is WAH. unused office space costs money to rent and also to keep serviced. People who are affected will get to work out of springhill or Spingfield. Something like that.

Also curious what the reasons provided were for closing the Cinci office (if any) and when this close will take place??

What is the reason the Cincinnati center is closing? Are they consolidating this center or outsourcing?

Ask our managers. Hahahahaha. Our managers either don't know or prefer not to discuss any messy facts or difficult questions that come with it. Nothing but clear skis and happy days in their worlds. And it's not like we can cite the Layoff site as a source. Is there any other way to obtain actual information/details??

If you are looking for a written announcement via HI or press release, Humana tends not to operate that way, especially if any staff working in the facility are impacted.

Messages concerning staff reduction or facility changes are often shared verbally by leadership, and even then, details are vague. Recent layoffs in Cinci, for example, the local news article used info found on this site, as Humana itself was tight lipped about many details.

As for the facility closure, if you are looking for confirmation, just ask your manager. It has been shared verbally; they will likely assure you that facility closures should have minimal impact for those working at home.

Yeah, the unlicensed PHC idea has been kicked around quite a bit, that's why we're all looking at other jobs that don't need the license

Care Center closing has been verified by leadership.

Since you are the one posting, wouldn't it be easiest to verify by going to the source you heard it from?? Someone else mentioned the Care Center closing?!? Has this been verified or also speculation?

I have a feeling the CHEs are going to take another huge hit! Notice they are never mentioned in town halls as being part of the new model of care? I would not be surprised if they eliminate the role entirely. That would probably mean no educational material for our members or directing them to the website. I hate that idea because too many older adults we work with are not comfortable with computers. I don't know about all y'all, but Lord knows I ain't got time to send stuff. I can barely get my calls done! Don't ask me to mail crap too! One CHE told me his coach is encouraging his team to look for new positions.

My other thought is all non-licensed PHCs are going to be cut by December. Going to replace with either social workers or nurses. Tons of new nurses being hired and trained.

Selfishly, I am relieved knowing the focus is on us nurses in 2.0 because that makes us safe.
