Uber continues to fight battles regarding it being accused of s-xist toxic place to work for women specially.
At QCOM, I have seen female employees being (mis)treated once they have announced their upcoming maternity leave to their leads. Have heard folks complain about loosing their status (work scope and responsibilities) after they have returned back from maternity leave. Leads taking away responsibilities from her, solely based on a prejudiced fear that the employee will not be able to continue with same dedication as before. Making plans of cutting women out of large projects while she is in maternity leave. Career growth of women employee being curtailed by their lead and managers, regardless of her explicit announcing and demonstrating that she is able to handle the same load and responsibilities with same dedication as before.
Have seen male employees mistreat women employees by casting them aside in review times for promotion. Time and again have seen male employees maintain good old frat boys club like environment in lots of teams in QCT. Managers being unsupportive to concerns raised, but implicitly blaming the employee by honing into employee's perceived inadequacy to justify the unfair ways towards the employee.
Is QCOM doing anything to fix these issues? Or is management complacent about their treatment of women employees?
