Switzerland - 5 field engineers & IC level downgrade

Two field engineers laid off March and three FE's yesterday. A total of 5. Existing field engineers where downgraded: IC3's to IC2 and IC2's to IC1. This is a very bad lookout for all FE's around.

IC levels are used to set other things like bonus or RSU eligibility, company car allowance, etc. A 'demotion' will always have a negative impact. There are literally no benefits of a lower IC level.

I am not Swiss so can't comment on spefic IC level compensation in Switzerland but that's the way it is here (another European country.)

Why downgrade is bad? Promote your IC level with more work and no salary increase, that is bad.

I am not surprised by this move. Oracle has dumbed down the FE to just a part swapper. If you have a software problem, call Oracle Support or use MOS to look for solutions. With CRU, customers can now swap their own parts.
