Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What a nightmare... glad its almost over

All the pay cuts, changes in comp and bonus, cuts to overtime and now half my team is gone. Why bother? Its obvious they don't want field sales engineers. I'm tired of waiting for my number to ocme up. This used to be a dream job. Now its a nightmare.

The pre sales market is good. I put my resume out there and I am actively interviewing with two companies that pay better than what i make at Oracle. I should have an offer in the next couple of weeks.

I have watched cut after cut since 2011. What is the point of waiting around until I you are told your number is up? The cuts come every month. I've heard that instead of one mass layoff they decided to break it up over several months. I don't want to wait around until October when no one is hiring. I am getting while the getting is good.

I mean really... I talk to people at work and everyone is scared. Who needs this? The tech market is great. If Oracle wanted to hire people with the same skills that they are letting go (technical pre-sales) they would be hard pressed to find quality people.

The Oracle execs drink their own champagne. They are drunk on it, these executives believe there own marketing material. Oracle cloud stuff is so easy anyone can do it, and anyone can sell it. The Exdata cloud machine sells its self. It provisions itself its full automated, just click a few buttons and it all works. Same with IAAS, we don't need tech sales any more... we just need one ECA for like 20 accounts.

Those who remain, good luck knowing the answers to everything. You have your work cut out for you. And if the POC doesn't work or you don't meet your sales quota numbers... have fun passing the blame around. I'm out... peace.

I really think this whole layoff thing and the way its being handled is to encourage you to leave. Who does this? Oh... yeah IBM, Cisco, big Telcos... all the old fossil companies that see their market share withering into nothing. The rest of the companies like Amazon, Google, and the new companies that do things right are hiring like crazy. Get out... go to work for the companies that care about people, customers and employees and treat them with respect.

If you are getting paid and doing nothing, you will eventually show up on a spreadsheet of people to be let go. Each round of layoffs the pool of employees gets smaller. If its a laid back environment for you its because you are not involved. This is a big red flag and you should start looking.

Keep takin your mess, fiddle fart around on concall to here Engrish mumbling about cloud is great, we sell on premise cloud, it's all cloud. That's the line and stick to it.

Can't get support, use MOS, but check with google first as MZoS is never vetted, out of dat and just wrong.
