Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Dxc jobs site

Ok call me a dunce but I'm awfully confused here. On one hand we are having cuts, on the other hand DXC has advertised 60+ jobs on their career site in the UK.

It's not a bull sh-- list as the new roles are updated every other day. What's surprising is that they are all HPE ES jobs and not a single one seems to be from a CSC location.

Does that imply that they are done with UK HPE ES cuts (maybe not entirely) and the bulk of the cuts are coming from the legacy CSC people? There isn't a single CSC job available....

Looks like a fake job or fake posting, obviously it wont be filled, at least not in the US. In the UK it not clear because of the Brexit thing.

All technical / support roles inclusing project managers and Account Delivery teams will be OFFSHORED / BEST SHORED .. just my 2 cents

UK Legacy CSC job - https://jobs.dxc.technology/job/basildon/support-services-engineer/16055/4930354

Though to be fair after a quick look of the 60+ jobs I only saw 5/6 of legacy CSC roles. I would not read into it as good news for the ES people though.

To convince an account that they are trying to find people to cover the account?

@1zfr

Thanks for the reply, but I fail to understand why 'ONLY' HPE ES roles are advertised and nothing for CSC.

DXC has inherited contracts that have penalties that have to be avoided. As said earlier-skate as close to financial brink as they can which includes Human Resources shenanigans as well as barely legal business practices.

There will always be roles, which they need and have no-one obvious to fill it. Quite often these are from people who resign (some people jump from a sinking ship), or currently filled by a contractor (where they want to remove the contractor to save some money).

Remember the company is not just about losing headcount, it is about moving roles. To move roles you need to recruit for the new location, and cut at the 'expensive' location. To get a job advertised externally requires a lot of persuasion at senior mangement levels.

The distasteful part comes from the fact that DXC is not offering retraining, or development opportunites to people. Though there is noting stopping people applying internally for roles.

No most of the jobs are your everyday jobs, very few are next gen. when I say next gen it's not AI or RPA jobs, closest to next gen was mobile development.

The only thing I can think off is that they cut too deep and now they realise they are in the red with penalties and renewals coming up so they are boosting numbers in their PODS in erskine.

CSC don't have any jobs advertised which is shocking though, surely they must need someone in some random role, heck there are no next gen roles either.

Do not want to come off like I know it all...sadly, it's all about get rid off higher pay older generation employees to save cost... if you are still trying to make senses or distinction between CSC, HPE, DXC or the future "abc" of merged Microfocus and remaining HPE... no need to do so if you see the writing on the wall = leadership wants to cut to boost up stocks anyway they can then fill in temps or younger new hires with cheap labour.. then you will not waste any energy but to plan for exit or stay put and wait for your "fate" to be determined by the top when they manage by the seat of their pants or skits for that matter..

They are probably posting jobs out there in preparation for some twisted HR exercise where they make everyone apply for the jobs that are out there, sort of like musical chairs meets hunger games.

Some of these jobs are security jobs; security has been defined as a growth area. I suspect the rest are either replacements for those who have left voluntarily or are 'next generation' roles.

I wouldn't read anything into the locations of the jobs advertised; it is unlikely that UK HPE ES cuts are complete.

It's not just the UK. I am seeing it in the USA as well. I don't get it.
