Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

All non-essential non-selling positions to be eliminated.

All but one ASM, presumably the new sales manager position. Service managers are being trained to replace the old ASM position. Eliminated ASM's will receive a severance package.

All sales specialists will be eliminated and given a severance package or given a CSA 4 option with probable pay cut.

Installed sales will be eliminated and outsourced to a call service similar to the 3rd party delivery.

PSA's will be a third party position.

LP will be a market position.

HR will be a market position.

Morale will continue to plummet, there will continue to be a high turn over rate for employees as the opportunities for advancement continue to shrink. Now you basically jump from CSA to what would've been an ASM. No in between.

As they continue to eliminate all knowledgeable employees there will be no one left who knows how to run the store much less print a label.

I have a friend who works as a HR Manager in another store... She was told that store level HR is being cut in late-July. She recently tendered her two-weeks, and was asked by the store manager to post her position for applications, but was told that will probably 'go unfilled' until the official annoucement.

To the person who thinks LP is a waste of payroll, you're probably clueless as to what they actually do in the store. But good luck to all, this rumor is just another blow to the company, after what happened earlier in the year, we saw employees totally lose morale, making it harder for store management to handle the transition, the secrecy and lack of a transition plan made it harder to truly train the people in new positions, etc. Hopefully if this does happen, they've made better contingency plans than they did before.

This is happening end of July. Now it's probably not all true but a lot is. Specialists will be given the dreaded CSA 5 title like the old department managers. They are going to create CSA 4 positions for key carrying and overrides. There will be 2 Specialist positions for everyone to fight for. One will be Interiors and the other Exteriors. I don't believe the PSA position is going third party. Haven't heard that one except for here.. LP and HR are gone in the stores. IMO waste of f---ing payroll. HR is a babysitter and LP gets 8 hours OT every week for sitting on their a-- in an office. Bail people. Don't wait for this to fall on you,

I think the biggest problem is that they are eliminating positions that have been around for years and are exclusively doing certain things, now parts of their jobs could be done by CSA's. However CSA's aren't being trained on how to do those things before these people are eliminated. CSA's have no motivation to do these things as a part time associate either, a lot of the new people have no intention of sticking around. They're getting hired in at the same rate I made in 2007.

Tonight the guy we had in plumbing was in appliances most of the night, the paint guy was helping in inside seasonal and loading mulch, the girl in flooring was covering walls and windows, electrical, and mill work in addition to flooring. The kid in lumber (seasonal) was covering lumber, tools, and hardware. Aside from 5 cashiers (one at each area and a head cashier) that was all the help we had. Oh and one service manager who was running around putting out fire.

I was talking with our appliance sales specialist today about this. So sad. :( I don't even know if I'll have a job at this point. I'm a PSC, they might just make the CSAs do their own signage and pricing for their dept
