Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

You need people to run a business!! It can't all be tech!!

Anyone else seeing a trend of nobody working at the stores anymore? Yet they want to complain from home-office that store looks like crap. Well no joke if you have nobody to Stockett it's not going to be stocked. It's not rocket science. Yet it's our fault because we only have two people running the entire floor. I just don't understand their logic. I'm 8 years in and love the people I work with. But feel I'm next (accounting) to get the boot. They will see a difference when I'm not there. I promise that! I do so much more than my "job description". They will see.

We have about 6 permanent self check outs and over 10 registers that can be used as both. With 10 or more self check outs and scan n go our few cashiers are only super busy on EBT days. They want members in and out as quickly as possible yet at same time expect plus and credit. One person staffing 10 self checkouts can't make sure everyone is scanning all their items and push plus and credit. Are we making so much money on memberships that we can have thousands in merchandise leaving the club unpaid for. I don't think so

Our club is a joke they want no lines but schedule 3 people. They say get plus and credit with lines 10 deep. What the hell had happened going down fast!

Self checkout s---s. I refuse to use it as a customer. And as a retailer it is a horrible idea. Be prepared for theft and shrink to go through the roof. But with no audit team, good luck keeping inventory straight. Stuff won't get caught until the yearly audit and it will take maybe three to four years until it gets bad enough for the suits to admit it's a problem.

But nobody listens to the peons.

From what I hear they are wanting to outsource a lot of areas to third party companies. It will be easier on them to just pay a flat rate with no benefits. Also easier to hold a company liable than their own. Its all bs. Also hear the managers will be given more tasks. In our clubs they are always working alongside the regulars just to keep up. I fear the demise of the Sam's Club brand very soon. What is the point anymore anyways. You can buy in bulk at Wal-Mart, You can get better deals sent to your door through amazon and for free by paying for Prime. It just doesn't have a value anymore.

The club manager get coached if the have an inv above .4 which is high BUT you really don't know going into inv what u are sitting at .home office is assigning certain audits sooo the club is not getting fully audited that's dumb! So if the cm get coached us assistant with get coached as well I just don't know what the company is going to..... Then u hear cutting this job and that job we can't keep up now and the will be adding more stuff to the mgrs and say use ur roadmap u can't .

Same at our club they don't give a hoot. Why not make it scan what you want the rest is free. This new check out system is a joke.

CIM is good in theory,But don't have enough people to excute it correctly.ASN works sometimes,and it's just the mechanism to eliminate jobs.

I honestly believe the same is at all clubs. Over night stockers can not keep up with stock levels. CIM is a joke. Who can keep up with it. Do they know that? All these visits from home office is to terminate management. Remember their goal is to trim the fat, this includes management. They should have been on top of this years ago. Everyone is overwhelmed. Team leads were given audits, which they have no idea about inventory. Nobody likes to count, maybe now they will realize how important audit team was. Why have club inventories? It will be a waste of time, why not just fudge numbers like home office. Has anyone notice that computer system is always slow at the end of the month? Fudging numbers? As for self check outs and scan n go, who are we kidding.

The store I worked at runs the same. Skeleton crew for at least a year. They built a new store not very far, lost lots of members.

Ours too! We loose sales all the tine because items are buried in receiving or there isn't anyone with a forklift license. It's ridiculous. Our business has dropped because people was customer service and there are very few associates. And very few quality associates left. They are running the company to the ground.

Yes there is a cut back in work hours at our store and members are waiting for assistance. This will cause us to lose members and the money saved in cutbacks will be too small to help. Meanwhile, larger dollars are going out the door as members miss scanning items at self checkout and scan and go.
