Stroke after working for Humana

A perfectly healthy person had a stroke after going through all the insane stress and changes, pressure and fear in this company. Is it worth it? We.must.leave!!!!

I was healthy when I started at Humana. Anytime I had a checkup, I could always race through the patient forms because there were no boxes to check off. Last summer my coach started using a threatening tone if we didn't hit the numbers, basically insinuating the company would let us go if we didn't hit 10, but 10 really wasn't good enough, and we would be "safer" if we hit 11. I stopped taking breaks and lunches and wellness time. Fast forward to this summer, blood sugar so high at last checkup, doctor says prediabetes.

My doctor says that you can reach prediabetic levels relatively quickly if you are sedentary much of the day, she says this "sitting disease" has dire consequences.

Needless to say, I now take breaks, lunches, I never work over, and no - I pretty much never hit 11 contacts any more. Not worth it. If this means I am not "safe," so be it. My health is more important.

Increased metric demands, no time for wellness, breaks or lunch and being told over and over again to do more. Insanity as it's finest. Sad thing, I use to really love my job and the company.

Agree with last poster, was laid off back in Feb and have found new employment. When you leave and find a normal job you realize how ridiculous the management and environment really is

Being laid off and finding another job was the best thing that ever happened to me. Hate to hear about how good workers at Humana continue to be abused. Do yourself a favor and find another job.

If your manager is taking wellness but is not helping their employees figure out how to take wellness that's not right. I take my wellness breaks and lunch. But I try not to stay on the phone more than 20 minutes and I do a lot of redirecting on the call. I do what I can with what I am given and I don't do and anything extra or go above the requirements. My health is more important than this job.

My manager cares about health and wellness - his own, anyway. Every week we get the "be back in an hour, taking wellness time!" email. Must be nice!

But it seems Management DOES NOT care because the pressure continues, the comparisons between teams and co-workers continue, the constant focus on numbers vs. actual service! Care for your employees, care for your members!!!

That's insane and yes the working conditions are extremely unhealthy! I hope they recover well!

I'm really starting to worry about lack of getting up out of my chair. I usually take a break and lunch, but that just extends my day, so I'm sitting just as long. I'm starting to actively look outside of Humana. Not sure if the commercial side is different. Anyone know?

God bless. It certainly is unheathful, there are a lot of people who don't get to take breaks or move around trying to make contacts. It is an embolism waiting to happen. Prayers for good health and recovery.
