We are on 4 day work weeks here at Cambridge Aero since June up to some time in November. We were notified exactly 2 weeks before it hit. That's a real nice 6 month period with a 20% pay cut if you've used up your vacation. When Garbagewell took us over the motto was "don't screw this company up" and all they've done is push customers and employees out of here.

The power of connected is HUGE!! It makes for a great tag line and we have a highly paid person in HBT that is VP of IoT partnerships (or something like that) and he goes around the country to conferences and give speeches and creates lots of buzz. No business for Honeywell, but lots of buzz. I'm sure we'll see big numbers as a result of the power of connected in the Q2 earnings release.

I haven't heard of furloughs at my plant. And if they were going to do two in July I think we would have been told by now. That's the power of connected.

Out of common decency they would have norified us by now, and expect us to complete the next few week's work before any furlough. But, since they are lacking in common sense and have no decency, then they can do anything at any time. Btw, the 2009 furlough was on the first week in January, and last year's at the end of June or beginning of July, depending on location. So anything is possible at anytime with those unconscionable 'geniuses'.

@-zip you would think that, but many companies piece themselves out to set up for mergers. Look at L-3, which is basically multiple divisions of different companies which were divested to create mergers to lessen regulatory issues, including L-3 itself, which started out with a few pieces of Loral, of whose CEO created L-3! I worked for a division of L-3 and I can say it was a good company to work for at that time but since he died years ago and the ex-GE CFO took it over, it is evolving into just another GE-Honeywell clone (sadly).

Agree that furloughs usually come late in the quarter but there could be a gap in flow earlier that needs to be made up with the usual all hands on deck fire drill to ship at the end of the quarter.

Regarding the potential GE Aviation merger with all of Aero, it will have the same American and European anti-trust issues as before and the European anti-trust organization is more mature and vigorous now after 15 years than it was in 2001. Even an Engines only deal would require spinoff of some number of engine models.

My last post just got mangled upon posting so the first paragraph is now a mangled fragmented sentence.

Basically someone copied & pasted a post of mine from the GE thread & embellished it (-bpe). I admit I posted that rumor/theory on their thread. I wasn't really trolling but it seems like a possibility at the time in the context of that particular subject in their discussion of their possible future.

Hmmm...someone copied not fact, and only rumor because I started it on that thread.

But I thought it's a possibility since both companies have d1ck-in-the-dirt Aero divisions and GE has some serious cash & debt issues which may force their hand. There are other synergies of those companies which also could see some potential merging. The semi-retired DC has the confidence of Wall St. (cough) to pull something like that off, even though the employees know what a elitist GE-bred d1ck he is. Immelt payed way too much money out for GE stock buy-backs to prop it up, instead of investing in the company's future or paying into their retirement fund which is now a giant yoke around their neck.

So consider that just a theory. In the end, we know nothing that comes out of the golf courses of CEO-types until it happens. Stay tuned!

There are rumors around that GE Aviation and parts of Honeywell Aerospace will get merged together sometime later this year, with former Honeywell CEO Dave Cote in charge of either GE or a new company for putting together the deal and would oversee for some period of time until he cashes out again with his biggest pay out yet (he's a Welchite). A small number of people made millions & billions while the employees, retirees, suppliers, & customers just got the shaft. Wall Street loves this dude and his ruthless self servicing business approach. Look at the GE layoff site to see how messed up things are at GE too these days with these short term business approaches to self enrich the CEO's and Wall Street.

Furloughs are typically scheduled toward the end of a quarter as they are used as a last resort to make the numbers. They would not do one in July, if there's going to be a Q3 furlough it would be in September

Another bogus rumor on this website. Can't count the number of times someone has tried to stir things up on this site by making up furlough stories.
