Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

The present thinking on the store level is: CONFORM or BE LET GO!

Too many associates have proven to be nonconformist. The problem is, with the downturn in the quality of SM, how do we show appropriate behavior? And when the SM herd is thinned, then where will we be?

The only thing considered is cost cutting. There is absolutely no thought to quality of hire. Corporate seems SAs as a commodity that can be traded easily.

The meetings I've been in on are startling. You have no idea the level of panic, despair and stupidity I see.

I was a manager for many years, and a very high performing one. Won manager of year numerous years in a row and was recently laid off by Macys here is my take.... great hard working associates, not enough of them, other managers that don't care about their associates . Then the great managers, that associates and customers love were laid off and replaced by "leads" for $12 per hour with no experience just cheap labor. Macys just do what is best for your associates and they will do what is best for your customer....

If they think they can hire for less they won't retain good help. They need to conform!!!
