Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Let the layoffs begin!

It's about time to get rid of traditional SCs who got the ECA tittle, but lack cloud experience. Next, product management who doesn't deliver or do not collaborate with the field.

There may be some layoffs, but there is no way that it will be structured so that a customer only has one rep and one SC to cover every product Oracle offers. No such person exists. Oracle has far too many products for a rep or SC to even know what they all do, much less have the expertise required to actually sell anything. If management doesn't understand that, then Oracle really is going to implode. The company is definitely transitioning to be cloud-focused, so people selling hardware or legacy on-prem products should probably start looking for a new job or updating their skill set, but there are still a few bright spots within the company. As with any sales job, if you aren't selling stuff your job is always in danger, but if you are selling stuff you're probably going to be OK.

Rumors are being started and spread by a certain higher up who recently left for a competitor.

Once they do the big layoff, there won't be as many employees that need cloud accounts. Problem solved.

Frankly, this ridiculous demo accounts scarcity can be stopped if Procurement allow managers to purchase Oracle PaaS/IaaS. All it just means is some VPs get to travel 20% less and finally use their own video conference facilities for once.

People are saying to update your resumes and start looking. You should wait to see if they lay you off and get the severance package. Don't accept a job right away unless you have to. Tell them you need 2-3 weeks to put in your notice. If you do not get RIF'd then give a 1 day notice and leave.

OTN? You have got to be kidding me. Those demo accounts don't work. People are always stepping on each other. A demo gets built and then someone else blows it away because they need the capacity. What a joke.

SCs can get an account from OTN or use demo central. Times have changed. We need self motivators and some of the SCs are not. The management recently rated all the SCs to figure to figure out who will be leaving.

Why not layoff the people responsible for not training the SCs and getting them cloud accounts? Sounds like that is the person who should be RIF'd. How can you expect SCs to get trained when you don't make the right investments to make it happen?
