Co-managers being "hidden" in Canadian stores

Recent new store structure called for a reduction in co-managers and assistants in Canada. Our store had to move out an assistant manager to make room for a co that had to "step down" as we had one too many. The trouble is he is still acting like a co: gives direction to the other assistants, hangs out with the SM and other co's, does not have to do assistant manager tasks or be duty manager, works one or no nights a week. When we had a recent HO visit he suddenly stoped being around the upper mgnt and pretended to act like a regular manager. So I think "hidden" is the correct term. I wonder how long this will keep up.

Agree 110 % !!! If management allows this behaviour , management is the problem !!! Store manager sets the tone !!! Leadership comes from the top --- down , not the other way , bad or good !!!

This sound more like your store manager needs to be removed. "He" is allowing this behaviour. If this behaviour continues you and the assistants left standing will have to band together and file a complaint. You may have to go over the ML level as they may not respond appropriately based on friendships etc. See Windsor store lawsuit as a prime example. I would go with ethics and compliance. It is the only division that strikes fear into a store manager right now
