They won't be able to wait until next year to do more cuts. They are still bleeding cash like a hemophiliac in a briar patch. If you're not already in a new job, welcome to the jungle!
Why do you think there will be more rounds of layoffs in the US this year when next year they will be able to layoff people in Europe? I was already laid off but am concerned because if more people get laid off that makes the competition for jobs in this region even worse.......I should have started applying much sooner.
They will be able to do about 2 more rounds of engineering layoffs before they have to come after the shop floor. They like being able to tell WYFF that "no production jobs were affected," so expect them to wait until the bitter end. But other companies in our area are looking for good workers, so why wait for your meeting with HR? It's easier to get a new job when you still have one, and you don't have to settle for a lousy one out of desperation. Many of us in engineering are actively looking.
Please allow me to correct the previous post. The salaries of the top (5) in 2016 was $73,698,405 not 750,000,000. Sorry one too many zeros. Ref. Salary.com:

There is no Union in Greenville as South Carolina is an anti Union State. They might well be better off if there were a union, then they could speak to the labor issues collectively, instead you have a bunch of individual disgruntled employees. Two-teir wages, contingent labor (MAU), collusion with other companies and the State to suppress wages, labor has no voice! The environment on the shop floor is terrible, no confidence in management whatsoever, failed initiatives Brilliant Factory etc.. What's going on with AMW, does anyone know if they are operational? The (5) top executives @ GE make around $750,000,000 a year which works out to about $9.00 a second, keep that in mind as they squeeze everything they can out of you. The best you can do is have your personal affairs in order so that you're not a wage slave in economic bondage.
HR has been trying to calm the layoff discussions in Greenville. However, multiple sources confirm we should be ready for more layoffs.
It is not "politically correct" to layoff hourly employees so GE tries to avoid it. But when it comes to hourly payroll versus senior executive bonus, guess who gets cut.
Employees at all levels are disgusted with GE. People do not care anymore. Embrace the layoffs as an opportunity to get away from the constant BS.
No union here but a ton of salary layoffs have happened. The 2nd round is about to happen here. It's just a waiting game at this point.
Greenville is non-union. GE has been trying to escape unions for years by shutting union plants down and moving the jobs to Greenville. Greenville has been fortunate in that respect. However, Greenville quality is declining due to elimination of seasoned GE employees and hiring contractors for manufacturing jobs (no commitment). Also, leadership is constantly changing so there is no consistency and/or loyalty. Employees are constantly training the revolving leadership. As the Greenville quality declines the cost is increasing. Declining gas turbine sales, declining stock prices, declining investor confidence (due to a current major problems with a power product), declining quality, and increasing cost will lead to layoffs in Greenville. GE is good at playing the shell game with money. But they are running out of shells. Investors are wise enough to read between the lines. And so are some customers.
No union there
I don't think Greenville workers have union!
What does your union representative say ? Wouldn't they have to be told in advance???
