Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Happy Nurses' Week

This is Nurse's Week. Do you think the company will do anything for the staff (licensed and non licensed) in HAH for appreciation? I can remember long ago getting out the day before Thanksgiving at 2pm or working a half day for appreciation. Do you think we will get anything this year?

If Tump were working at Humana......jobs would not have been sent to Philippines.

TS was the Director for the North East region (I think) for HAH. His departure was sudden and no more information has been given. There are many rumors, but nothing official from Corporate yet. I guess we just pretend like we don't know he's gone.

Which program(s) Does TS manage? Let me guess he is "retiring" June 30th or end of the 3rd quarter? So more top management being let go, which makes me think there will indeed be a round 3.

WHAT? TS is gone? He just had a meeting about job security and having to worry about anymore jobs being eliminated? Hmm, wonder if he believes in Karma. It would be nice to know what happened, but that's not the "transparent" Humana way.

I worked for a company one time that had an ice cream social for the nurses, and a "BBQ party." There was a party set up for us to go down on breaks and get ice cream and topping, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and all sorts of goodies. Then I worked for a nursing home that had a special activity each day for nurses week, like crazy sock day on Monday. Everyone participating would get a prize each day. There would be a raffle at the end of each day too-like the winner of crazy sock day would get a gift card somewhere. Each event lead up to a huge party on Friday that would allow all shifts to participate. All staff were encouraged to bring their families (not just nursing staff but we celebrated all staff during nursing week). It was such a great time. Yes, I have had some great appreciation gifts in the past. I do miss early release days for holidays. I would appreciate my flex time back so I can just go to a doctor's appointment without having to take off the entire day. I'm not even asking for a shorter work week, just to help me be able to work on my well being

It used to be so different. When I was at the care center in Florida, the coaches were allotted money to spend on each team for team building luncheons and get- togethers out of the office and on company time. We did get the early releases at the holidays and if I remember correctly, that was when we were managing our rosters monthly, not daily or weekly. Some coaches send Christmas gift cards, I am sure that is out of their own pockets now. We didn't get big gifts for nurses week but did get something useful, ie: tote bag, umbrella. I agree, keep the certificate, save the stamps, I could care less about a piece of paper.

This company has made $13.7 billion so far in the first quarter. We definitely don't want them to lose any money by giving anything extra to their employees . :)

Hilarious but Q-uite unfortunate! Social workers-thanks for what you do. I am a nurse and have not received a certificate yet. Each company does their own thing. One time I received an extremely nice leather bound legal portfolio engraved w/the company logo and a really nice logo pen from a former company in which I worked, as a Nurses' Day gift. I've gotten lunch boxes, umbrellas and a myriad of other goodies. I don't recall anything here. But I would not want a company to go out of business by giving 10,000 nurses knick knacks. Certificates are nice. I understand how some people view them. I have heard other team members also tell me they throw them away. I hope you recycle them though. Save the earth! Kidding, but on a serious note, certificates can go into your career portfolio to help you get jobs or further your education. Even if it is something such as "we appreciate you" and nothing actually achieved. I don't know how a certificate with a completely different name would go over in a career portfolio. I do keep all my certificates I get from employers and keep them in a portfolio. I needed them recently for a career development obligation. I was actually praised by having included them.

Maybe someone should be auditing the certificates? "There was a missed opportunity to spell Jane Smith without a Q."

My certificate that I received on Monday went right in the garbage. I would rather get nothing than to get a piece of paper with my name on it. To me that was an after thought at best. What a waste of a tree.

My certificate had a completely different first name than mine, not even close to it....like is was to Martha and my name is Sue.

Haha! Below poster - I thought it was just me! I received a certificate with a random Q in the middle of my name (I am going to go out on a limb here and assume I am not risking revealing my identity by revealing that there are no Q's in my name).

I'm at the point where I don't expect or need anything special - however, if they need suggestions, one day without micromanagement would be really, really nice.

The HCM SS's got a certificate of appreciation for social work month...with my name misspelled...again. On top of the auto dialer, being asked to provide "medical" info on care plans outside of our license and putting us at risk of sanction by the State Boards, being expected to work 10 hour days and no PTO allowed until September, gee, what more could I want? I remember when I started, and I want to thank the HCM RN's who I worked with when Humana was a good place, and for the support as it has tumbled downhill. My greatest wish for you for as nurse's is to find a well paying job that really appreciates who you are and what you do. I left Humana for the same.

Lmao!!! I really hope this poster was kidding. They don't even do holiday bonus, why in the world would they actually do something to acknowledge employees??

And those leave early days, were announced about 2 hours before and only if you'd have meet the daily metric before the end of an 8 hr shift.

I know I sound super negative but unfortunately this is the actual truth. The reward is you survived round 2 of a company that only sees us as a worker ant
