Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Since Safra Joined Oracle ....

  • Investment in employees is gone!

  • Investment in innovation is gone!

  • Raises & bonuses are gone (except for the usual 1 & 2 percents for the top 70% every few years)

  • Oracle employees salary is in the 50% compared to the market range

  • Focus shifted from innovation to saving money

  • Safra says, if they don't leave, why pay them more?

  • Oracle became a holding company instead of innovation company

  • Oracle became a graveyard to companies it acquires

  • TK is only making sure that the ship is floating but he is not pushing for innovation at all (Still has hope in Fusion!?)

  • The 3 Musketeers (SC, MK, TK) are getting 10s of millions every year while Oracle employees have to wait for their 2% increase if they make it to the top 70% every few years!

Maybe it is Oracle employees fault, maybe they should show Safra the mass exudes that she is waiting for to start getting a decent pay.

Any one knows how Oracle handles raises and bonuses for non commission based employees?

Handle in what sense? In my experience bonuses have been eliminated for at least six years. Raises are merit based (i.e. only a subset of employees get one) and in the low single digits percentage. Think inflation rate in US. Equity comp is shrinking in value every year. This is true for ICs and management below VP at the least. You want a real raise, you should leave.

Typical I-banker, knows nothing about technology or the business itself, just looks at spreadsheets and calculates how she can reduce costs so that she can get a cut of the cost reductions as bonus for herself. The problem however lies with LE who is too dumb to understand that his company is being run into the ground. I guess that's what happens when you get preoccupied with sailing and replacing wives.

Actually, things went south, employees morale went down since SC became a president around 2004. Cost cutting became the focus of Oracle. SC stopped salary increases & bonuses, stopped company parties, investing in innovation stopped, and the list goes on.

The only thing did not stop is senior management's huge pay increases. That is sad.

SC, MH and LE are birds of a feather, all theee more than happy to screw oracle employees to enrich themselves, which is what they're doing

She also sold almost all of her stock in March to a cash-out of a cool $130,000,000. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the future of ORCL!

What are you talking about? Safra joined Oracle almost 20 years ago. Are you saying there have been no innovations since Oracle 8.0 was released!

I think you may have meant Mark Hurd. If you swap names then I'm in 100% agreement.

How do you think she justifies the billion dollar plus that she's made at oracle - because she had reduced costs by significant more than her pay. Think of her as getting a commission on cost reductions just like sales people get a commission on sales. It screws the compNy and the people, but LE not smart enough to figure that out
