Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Life is better on the outside!

I left Xerox on my own after 27 very long years with Xerox. The compensation is good but that's about the only good thing one can say anymore about life at Xerox. I'd rather take my chances doing something else than live layoff to layoff waiting for the ax to fall. Life is better on the outside!

OH God ! - I was IRIFd after over 22+ years - The company treated me well when I first started and for about 10 to 14 years after that - then you hear the usual VRIF- IRIF - performance is important talk - I have had many years of the writing on the wall and as a lazy sort of well paid tech I just kept going to work day in and day out and toward the end hating every day, but I did enjoy the customers that kept me happy. Managers were always making you feel like you are lucky to have a job so you better walk a straight line and bend over backwards for the customer. Now the customer gets wind of this and complains of a spot on the page that you cant see and the management gives them credits, its a vicious cycle. When I got laid off I was in a sad for about 6 hours - I went back to school got my degree and now have a whole new career. I was truly ready to leave and I am glad that they gave me that needed push out the door - my misery was over and so was my stress level.
