Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Pay Increase

I have asked for a pay increase and manager doesn't even acknowledge it.

They always give excuses and I believe the store manager can actually give a pay increase if they wanted, but that comes into favoritism.

My lead does so much (she is a tool, but I think looks are what pretty much say no to getting a raise) yet makes the same as me thats just so unfair she doesn't get a raise and does so much.

Sears is all talk they try to get into your head work harder, but their will not be incentives. Hell their was a time (id say 3 to 4 years ago) when I started our store was breaking records yet we all started to wonder for ourselves why aren't we seeing the benefits no pay increases yet the store was very profitable.

So what happens? You stop trying hard because they aren't offering an incentive. Now you can see the effect a lot of good workers have left you get new people they are usually bad, or dont stick around long enough because company offers no future.

Now I have seen our numbers sunk because not offering any benefits for making your store profitable.

@NeaRIcx-ocp I might actually start making threads I guess they are worthy enough to have its own discussion.

@NeaRIcx-icz It goes back to favoritism store manager in our store only looks for himself. I remember when i started I had a customer eating me alive (metaphorically) the store manager is near their looking at it, but not helping at all. Their has been many scenarios that the same thing has happened.

I am a manager in corporate not the stores and if I want to give a raise to an associate I generally have to promote that person and it takes about 6 months of continuing asking before anything works out, so yes it is possible but the manager needs to be very persistent and keep on it for months if a promotion and sometimes a year if the position doesnt change. I have had to write out reasons why the associate deserves a raise in the past.

It's part time workers in our store making more money than leads. Like the post said when you go ask management about a raise their favorite line is "the company broke,it's not in our budget." They actually had the nerve to take money from me and still come to me like we need you to do more but can't pay more money. I just laugh and keep walking. There is no reason to work hard for this company. They will find a way to get rid of you if they feel like you going against the company.

LOL, @ncg, seems to me you need to start making more threads instead of replies.

I don't know who keeps making my post a thread, but I guess this is another worthy one lol.

Just to mention when I say looks can pull a pay increase I believe are truth. Girl applied for lead position and she got it, (she was their for a while for Sears) however she wasn't going to take the position unless she saw an increase and they said they would look into it. Now one thing is my manager is a pervy man the girl is attracting I wouldn't be surprised their was a nice conversation girl s---ing up the manager and bam she got her raise (I think she is the only one I have heard of getting a raise all this time working their). So now it tells me that it is possible to get a raise if this actually happened

Another scenario that actually happen. As minimum wage was going up, soon it caught up to one of the leads pay levels, he actually requested for a pay increase, he was denied by the manager and put the excuse he couldn't do nothing to call some Sears # so basically it was circles with him. So a lead that is responsible for more tasks makes the same as low tier workers? Their is a reason why people just stop caring they leave or stay and just do as little as possible.

So it is truth in the end of the day store manager can actually give a raise, but I guess that all depends if your a tool to your manager and really likes you.

Yeah. Every time I mention a raise the manager laughs it off. He knows I deserve it. Many of us do. They, meaning SHC just don't want to pay us more.

Store managers CAN submit requests for pay increases (to the Market HR Manager). They just generally don't bother because they are ALWAYS denied.
