Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

DWEP to Covington?

All consolidation was headed to Houston. I was shocked when I heard this news, being a former employee. Any truth to this?

OP- there is no truth to this. The only surprise for me was VP located in Covington. Every other GM and their orgs made sense where it was staying. Houston (former DWEP) had the front end of the value chain up to D&C, Covington (former GOM) got the back end of the value chain with Ops.

This was announced organizationally recently so every other post on here is just former employees making stuff up.

1fvw - Our so-called management have no spine or stomach to make the difficult decisions that ultimately have consequences in terms of human capital. They bring in the BCG consultants as an excuse or as cover for the decisions they want executed, but don't have the balls to attach their name to. It's that elementary.

Both Houston and Covington aren't filled with too many Mensa candidates so let's please stop with this silly bickering and get back to the real topic which is why our stupid management can't make a decision without BCG. Seriously, how do these clowns get to be PSG 26+ and why are they so cowardly that they need to hide behind expensive consultants to make any tough calls. Do we s--- that bad?

1bpm - If the real estate market was strong in Louisiana, that Covington office would have been listed already.

Best to keep offices in both regions. Foolish to put all eggs in one basket anywhere on the gulf coast, given the impact and frequency of tropical weather systems on the region. Best to have a little operational redundancy. Especially if the property is owned and not leased.

Shame we couldn't get out of NOLA area altogether. Some of the most petty and disgraceful people you'll ever have the misfortune to meet.

The merger will be called GOM and it will be positioned in Covington. With BCG now in the mix, there will be big changes for DWEP. GOM has been through the stream lining, however, more layoffs are expected and overlaps will be eliminated.
