Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Are PHC's now required to have a BSW or MSW

Will PHC's be required to have at least a Bachelor in Social Work to continue in this role. Seem like that maybe the direction the company is going for people in the position. I dont have BSW or MSW but I do have a Masters.

Everyone one has made valid points. I do not feel comfortable and I have been spending time seeking a new job as well. I'm sure something will come along Just not sure when. The stress of being an employee of this company isn't easy at least for me.

At the last layoff update meeting, JR mentioned no "planned" additional layoffs for 2017. However, the wording of course allows them to have a meeting tomorrow about MOC and licenses etc, and decide more layoffs are the next move. I'm not sure anyone was comforted by the message of no "planned" layoffs. We understand it is business and change is a part of that, however the constant job insecurity has taken its toll. I am spending a little time each night job hunting. Something will come along.

If that is the route they are taking shouldn't they have let go of as many non-licensed PHCs as they could in this last round? Did they let go of anyone licensed social workers? If it was only non licensed PHCs given the boot then you all are on to something. SNP PHCs were replaced by MSWs. The SS and PHC role was combined. Makes sense if they do it across the board.

What I don't get is why they can't tell us what the plan is and if we need to prepare to be out of work. Stop stringing us along and be honest! I realize they don't want us to know because they think we will either stop doing our work or quit before we get it all done. I would greatly appreciate it if they would say, "We will be requiring all PHCs to be MSWs by July 1st". I would continue to do my job until I found a new one or collected my severance package.

I didn't hear they were not enrolling at risk. I was only told stay healthy enrollments were stopped.

I think we will find out more concrete information about MOC changes when we have the meeting with MF this month. I think after they change MOC there may be more staff changes

I'm really close to 700 as of last week with my HCCP members

They also aren't enrolling at risk or stay healthy members. And we are graduating 18000 5/25. I don't know a lot of others who have rosters actually at 700. I agree with posters saying they are seeking other opportunities and making plans

That's a good question I tried looking this weekend and could not find anything regarding cms reimbursement regulations and etc. I honestly feel as though something more is going on with our roles as PHC's therefore I'm working on preparing myself in case I get the ax next I believe everyone on my team is a bachelor level social worker except me.

What are cms regulations regarding care managers and licenses? I tried looking on cms.gov and can't find specifics related to telephonic care. Is Humana reimbursed less when unlicensed PHC's are providing care management? It seems all of the other health insurance companies require licenses, RN or MSW.

I have been giving this a significant amount of thought especially since leadership keep saying they are working on a new model of care. I believe PHC's are going to have at minimum a BSW. When I look for jobs with other providers the require MSW or RN

That's what happened to HCC in SNP side they got rid of all the HCC and replaced them with MSW. BSW is not enough.

I think that they may require PHCs to have a licensure of some sort to stay on board
