Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Morris Plains status

Does anyone know what's happening in Morris Plains? Does anyone know how many of the 1200 or so employees from Morristown are still at Morris Plains?

Quite a few openings in Procurement. The only place that the positions can be filled is Morris Plaines but only internally. No one is applying because they aren't stupid. They have to get the head count up so they won't lose the tax credit they are receiving. Hey but at least the jobs are in the US.

I'll tell you what's happening in Morris Plains. It is turning into a ghost town. I doubt there are more than 500 employees left working at the site at this point. People are leaving at a far faster clip than they can be replaced (if they are replaced) and it is not just the mid level employees. The president of the advanced materials business just quit.

@-2sbg - That open area for the engineers sounds like the prototype Roman Galleon "Agile" model. Where the whip is the PIP.

HON sold 90% of the Morristown site to commercial real estate development companies. Most of these buildings are demolished now. The only piece of property HON still keeps is the Corporate Technology Center (CTC) lab with 40 ppl in it. The CTC is a PMT site now with half a dozen Aero staff in it. Rest are all PMT ppl.

Another reason to leave. How about open office for CEO and top leadership?

The open spaces were terrible. No assigned desks, not allowed to leave any of your belongings, scrap paper, nothing. They kept coming and having our group move to other areas where each desk was filled but then other areas were completely empty. made no sense and was the worst working environment with everyone basically on top of each other with no privacy.

In the Morristown (old) facility there might be a couple of aero engineers that still have their labs there, the rest are from other divisions (SM, etc.) ; in the new facility (MP) there is very limited lab space, mostly storage rooms in the basement. As for the office area for engineers, open space, no assigned desks, with lots of wasted space for numerous meeting rooms, sleep/brake rooms, sitting rooms, etc., etc., mostly unused. More than enough space for each one to have a good size cube or even office, but apparently someone (a Sr. VP) thought they could save money on furniture......

Does any one know how many of the 200 or so Morristown Aero-Defense folks are at Morristown?

Sounds like the only research going on at Honeywell corporate is how much more can they screw the employees!

It's sad when a company with so much potential could be regulated to little or no real research for the future, except financial engineering. No value to humans except a piggy bank to bust.

In one section of the office, a lot of programs that HW worked on for years were either renewed to another company, greatly reduced or ended all together. Since the move into the new building, in my particular area, about 25- 30 people, including myself, were let go due to no work. It was a blessing in disguise, seriously.

There are about 50 people left in the Morristown site. Most of them are lab people. The former R&C people should have left following the spinoff. Morris Plains should still have around 1000 people mostly corporate and PMT corporate.
