Cisco to cut 1,100 more jobs amid a worse-than-expected business outlook

Text from Internal CEC page:

At the beginning of FY17, we announced a workforce restructuring plan that would impact 5,500 roles based on business performance and strategic business investments. While the majority of these employees were notified early in this fiscal year, we always want to be transparent in what we're doing. As you and I would expect, our leaders will always revisit our business needs. I rely on them to adjust to changes they see in the market in order to position Cisco for our long-term success. And as a result, our leaders have made business decisions that will increase this number by approximately 1,100 roles.

difference between a director layoff ( grade 13+ above) and workbee layoff: (grade 4 to 12):

director (grade 13+ above) , immediately book a vacation and sell his/her fancy retreat to get extra income, use his/hers fancy frequent flier miles for the free vacation.. and rest on stocks/options for the next 2 years, got a stint at some other companies after that..

workbee/1st line manager layoff (grade 4 to 12):

has to tell the family, and immediately look for jobs outside, emotions back and forth and self value doubts? many sleepless nights to follow, entire family on him/her (insurance/school)...

very limited stock and options and some very little left over $ from the package.

expensive health care at over $2100 per month premium..

obama care looks good for now..
