I do hope that NOV bounces back and I can get my job back. It is possible and I refuse to be negative about things in general.

Not sure if GE would be allowed to acquire NOV. The GE-Baker Hughes deal is facing scrutiny from the DOJ. Even if GE is allowed to buy (assuming it wants to) NOV, they will have to carve out sections of the company and sell them to someone else.

Maybe that will happen anyway, if GE is not interested. From a peak of $86, share price is currently $32. That makes it a potential acquisition target.
