Thread regarding IBM layoffs

The Coal Mine Needs To Make More Profit, Quick - Fire The Miners !

In my small corner of hell, dozens of people working on customer contracts which we are bound to deliver on by contract are leaving. As far as new sales goes, the IBM'ers who are leaving are the only ones who know what we do and how to engage with customers.

Maybe our multi-national Fortune 500 clients will buy billions of dollars of IBM products and services based on "Social Media", or the Instagram postings and tweets and twats these brilliant young fresh thinkers are going to deliver. Ya think?

The long-term plan is obviously to reduce IBM to a tiny fraction of itself, concentrating on a single business. The problem is we can't figure out which business that is because all of them are being managed into the ground. Which one is supposed to survive?

If Ginni and/or the board can't explain the wisdom of all this, i.e. a clear plan that overcomes the loss of all these experienced people and puts IBM back to profit dollar growth (not just eps), then this is just panic and the wheels are truly off the wagon.

Does anyone see the eventual upside of this? Is there one?
