Real reason for Last Act

Many associates ask about why Last Act is being rolled out in so many places in the store. By doing so, we take up space that would go unused as we aren't getting the same volume of merchandise in anymore. Essentially, Last Act takes up the space that in season merchandise would have--if we could still afford it at past levels of stock.

It's the beginning of our transition to TJX level of sales. The next chapter is shoes going open stock.

The nightmare continues for us.

Its all about contolling margin on mark downs and creating the disciunt feel for the catfish shopper that likes to root in clutter.

@2jsx - do you have credentials within the company or are you just a speculative store associate making minimum wage?

Are you kidding me? We move that clearance merch out of vendor shops and there is barely anything there to sell. We are not getting the same volume of merch we got even 3 months ago. Last Act is a way to keep the floor looking full and begin the process of becoming a discounter.

Why would a customer buy full price merch when he can walk over to Last Act and buy something similar for less? And knowing that he can also walk into a Marshall's and buy current season clothing, that is also on our racks, for less makes it less likely they'll pay full price for ours. Hence, RTV far more frequently.

it's more to do with moving clearance merch out of the vendor shops to clear room for full price merchandise. But yea it's also the Macy's response to discount retailers
