Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Where did you go after leaving Whole Foods?

So, there have been a number of posts that people have made talking about their great jobs after leaving Whole Foods. Unfortunately they have been pretty vague. You don't have to be specific about location, but what companies have you gone to work for that have similar/better benefits and better hours?

Yes, it is a cult. If you don't fit into the "cult"ure you will be axed because people who are not easily brainwashed scares them! You will have them fumbling and mumbling in disbelief that you did not drink the Kool aid. How could anyone not accept and drink a $50 cup of Whole Foods "Cool" aid?

Building on my academic background, I moved back to my hometown and spent some time refreshing my mathematics knowledge. Now I'm in the educational field. I have never had to work a weekend or holiday ever since! I would have stayed on part-time during the process of getting my state certification to teach, but the regional idiots had bought an old Wild Oats in my hometown...and closed it, thus ticking off their own potential customers. Fresh Market, Lucky's Natural/Organic and Trader Joe's stepped in to fill the void. Regional = IDIOTS. Global = IDIOTS. Glad to be free of retail in general but in particular, this bizarre phony cult run by nincompoops.

Left WFM after 11 years, head hunted by Bristol Farms and was there for years before becoming freelance photographer. Best thing I ever did, that camera thing.

I took a continuing ed certification course at the local community college and now have a regular 9 to 5/M-F office job. Less money than I made as a TL but so much less stress and drama, plus I get weekends with the kids. So worth it and no more cult like mind games.

I make a living by returning whole body products and eating samples. Sometimes I even complain about nonsense and get gift cards!

Got a job in the field I want to work in (teaching). Currently applying to Grad school and I work 9-5ish M-F. No weekends, holidays or overnight inventory. I took a pay cut, but the work-life balance and lack of cult like thinking is worth it.

Got a job bartending, and decided to go to college. A lot more late night hours, but the work is so much less stressful, and I make about the same money.

I also have a 9-5 gig. Love it. I actually got a job with State government. My customer service skills really got me through the interview. They love when I use the whole foods cult words like "empower, transparency, team player, " etc

Won't say where, but I'm more or less an office drone now. It's ok though. 48k salary, mon-fri, never work weekends.

I wear business clothes but we have casual fridays lol and some days I work 9 hours, 8-5 and work right thru lunch and I stare st spreadsheets all day... but Friday at 5pm you better believe I'm loving life.
