CWA workers for AT&T mobility are on strike, but its for only 3 day.....I've never heard of a defined duration strike...is this unusual?

@1mpa .... actually it was a win for McAdams and Verizon. The Union members lost 7 weeks of wages and came within a few days of a lockout that they would not have come back from, due to the type of strike called by the CWA.
A comparison of the in effect contract, the LBO and the accepted contract shows that in the final run, VZ won. VZ will still be able to close what they want as the want, members are paying more for their insurance, no protection for new hires, etc. OSP forces are still be sent out of town more than they want and no reprieve in site.
One of the IBEW sites had a side by side comparison of IE, LBO and Accepted and the only group that came out slightly ahead are the retirees. Standing in the middle .... it is obvious that VZ came out ahead and likely got what they wanted.
I don't know what the 'grind' points are between the CWA and ATT but I expect that ATT wants to prepare for the 2024 that copper can essentially be abandoned. Verizon is already at that point and when the clock strikes 1201 anyone that calls in a copper trouble will be getting a wireless nid or an opportunity to go to another provider. I expect that ATT will have no qualms about a multi-week strike.
It's a bad sign for unions. Btw the 7 week verizon strike was not a win for mcadam I'm not sure what that poster is thinking other than just trying to spread bs.. the verizon final best offer was way different than what unions ended up getting.. but the at&the strike just sounds like a ploy to let their members drink and have a fun unpaid weekend..
Panzy strike. Real mean would have had the strike over the holiday weekend. Wussies.
Management will keep their doors locked until the Union agrees to no more Wildcat strikes.
yes it is a strike to disrupt and let the company know what it feels like to have a work stoppage if they were on an official no end date in sight strike. Other unions have used this to win a contract. I think it is well played.
... more like the CWA learned their lesson from the Verizon 7 week strike that came within a few days of a lockout. McAdams set the new blueprint for strikes and I imagine ATT has studied that blueprint quite well.
A three day strike, on a weekend brings everyone back at the first of the week for business as usual.
It doesn't seem like a really good strategy if you are telling management that you will be back on Monday.........
