Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

How to sue Lowe's and complain about harassement & discrimination...

Lowe's is a beast of a company. Don't ever trust HR to help you...they work for Lowe's and are likely just butt puppets for managers (remember, your HR person collects a check and wants to keep their job too).

Some things to do if you are harassed or discriminated against. I've fought unethical people and businesses my whole life, and here are some tips:

1) Talk to your supervisor or manager and make notes of when you did. ALSO, send an email with the store manager & HR director's name on it. Lowe's HATES written records because they can be used in court. I've used this with great success before. Don't listen to the "all records at Lowe's are private" crap. That's for lawyers to hash out - once the information is out, Lowe's has to deal with it. Once it's buried, you'll never get it back. Also, ALWAYS, ALWAYS forward the email to your home email address so you'll have a copy. That way Lowe's can't say it got "lost."

2) Don't lose control. Just be patient and calm, explaining your issue. I know you want to kick the sh-- out of the managers and corporate - I've been there - but this is not the best approach. When you go nuts, it's easy to dismiss you as a "lone wolf" trouble-making employee.

3) NEVER have a meeting alone with just you and a manager or supervisor in an office if you suspect they are trying to feel you out or find grounds to fire you. And this includes HR - HR is not your friend. In fact, like as not, they will be the one that actually fires you. If you find yourself in this situation, simply say you're not comfortable and that you want someone else in the room with you. If HR or someone keeps talking, just get up and leave.

4) Don't tell other employees at this point, even if they are your friends. You tell one person, then they tell someone, and so on...then your story turns into something you didn't say.

5) Let them make the mistakes. I hate to put it this way, but most managers and supervisors at Lowe's you'll find in the stores aren't too smart - otherwise they wouldn't be at Lowe's. Just think about it - don't you think they had to put up with the same sh-- you're complaining about? Yes, but they never did anything about it. Don't be that person.

6) Finally, If you have a true issue with Lowe's discriminating against you or harassing you, then you can file a complaint with the EEOC - the Equal Employment Opportunity Office. Their website is https://www.eeoc.gov/

Trust me, this is the last thing Lowe's wants. Also, send a copy of your complaint to the EEOC to your local newspaper. Even better, if you're in a college town, send it to the campus newspaper. This kids are cutting their teeth and love stories like this.

Good luck stomping on these corporate pigs!!!!!

But what do you do if you’re a male manager and a female employee in another department consisently talks about the “new adult toys” she bought? Female HR said it’s no big deal. You know if you respond back, the employee can use that response and twist it and sue.

Crazy chick is divorced and bragged about setting up her ex and always taking notes and keeping texts. She suggested I go to her place.

Um nope, I’m paying a mortgage and have no place for a desperate divorced mom of 2.

Just an old lady who loved her job at Lowes. Manger was horrible and abusive to everyone. Couldn’t be abused and upset anymore. Jefferson City Lowes treats disabled young employee horrible. The women is German and has this kid going around reporting lies then she attacks them in front of everyone. Kids who have disabilities think they have to put up with her abuse to keep their jobs. It’s so sad. But we know she will continue to do so no matter what. I miss the good people who were there but she was nasty and life is too short.

I have experienced discrimination on a whole new level at the distribution center. The managers have a sit down with a deaf employee with NO interpreter and wonder why the deaf person does not understand what the context of the conversation was. This has been an ongoing issue but Lowe’s just does what they want with no consequences. HR went into the system and manually changed what the employee had requested as an accommodation through Sedgewick, which then the accommodation got denied. This is so sick! I don’t know how these people sleep at night thinking that they’re company actually cares about them. So much that they are willing to disregard their beliefs, emotions, human decency and ethics. The employee had already been awarded $5k for discrimination and instead of accommodating the employee they rather just pay him off. The HR woman looks like a fake Kim Kardashian and says she “knows” ASL! When it came time to sign it was clear she didn’t know how to sign and the deaf person looked so confused, but they choose to not hire an interpreter which they could clearly afford. It makes me sick and want this employee to get the rights they deserve. I’m sure this one DC is not the only one in the network that has this issue.

I am watching one person at Lowe's eat up a new employee who is doing super great work at sales. She is obviously a vicious woman who has a problem with this employee. This employee know that she is trying to get him fired by making complaints about him. HR has to deal with the complaints and discipline. So far, the employee is being protected by his immediate bosses, but something needs to be done about this woman.

The head cashier is constantly hitting on me and he groped my bottom - I froze and ran to bathroom and cried and when I told the managers they just told him not to talk to me but they didn’t give him any punishment ! What do I do? I legit called in twice to Avoid being on same shift with the creep and I quit after they scheduled me on same shift with him and told him I complained about his grabbing my bu-t issues - that he needs to not talk to me! They literally met this old creep off with a verbal warning and he didn’t deny it he said he wanted to apologize - ew!

I quit bc I couldn’t bare seeing these fraudulent as-----s who pretend to care ! How do I handle a complaint? Should I file one ?

When you work at lowes at first its great then they tell your job is everyone job and that you signed up for this however its a tactic managers use to not have to so anything plus enforce you to make sales and and never inform you of the great work you so i been here a for 1 year and a half and got 30 cents raise is all im worth the gaming of people here its a straight result of letting your employees down with no hopes of moving forward. The company is only about sales thts it the people dont matter here sorry for. The hard workers

I turned my back on Lowes when commission went away. It was the final straw. I collect my check and will as long as I can. I am well respected in store so I can do this until I retire in a few years. Feel sorry for people starting out..

I've seen the "non-compete" clause. To Hell with Lowe's...I'll tell anyone I want everything about Lowe's & how sh--ty it is. Good luck proving I did anything LOL Anyway, who doesn't know about Lowe's?!! HD has spies and knows everything...how many HD former workers now work at Lowe's? 1000s! I personally know 4 people at my store (including 1 manager) that used to work there.

Good tip about the Bcc...send everything to your home email so you can document the abuse at Lowe's. Believe me, Lowe's will do anything to you if their corporate shareholders tell them to...it's all about the money. When the ship starts sinking, they will throw the workers to the wolves, so to hell with Lowe's.

When using email always use bcc.

Send it to yourself in a private email for your records, it will also hide it from anyone you don't want knowing.

It's actually the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

But you're correct, they can help if Lowe's is taking advantage of you. Lowe's doesn't want this publicity. Hitting Lowe's in the pocket book is the only way to break them.

I know some good, smart managers, but most are company "men" that want to move up the ladder (most never will, which is funny) so it's best not to trust management. Plus, we all know that managers have a little circle of employees they favor over everyone else - little cliques. Cliques are really about weak management, which is rampant at Lowe's.

I think that most managers are people that never got attention in high school, and are making up for it now. LOL
