Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

If You Have the Courage - Everyone at Oracle Don't Go To Work Tomorrow and All Next Week

How would these very Evil People feel if next week no one reported for work? Would we all stand together and "strike"? I doubt it but it sure would be interesting. Even EYE BEE EM - laying the hammer down on remote workers - how terrible as well. Anyway, so after a while of reflection and still angry as hell, let me get this straight, no matter how effective I or anyone else in their 50's or 60's were at accomplishing tasks and great 'year-after-year' performance reviews - we were tossed aside like a dog without any human decency or dignity, stock options stripped bare, last check for a few days FedEx'ed overnight, stripped of all benefits, and forced to sign a severance agreement with an 'age book' addendum just to get a few more weeks of pay, then having the 'right' to 'write' Oracle $3,000 back for Cobra and other continuance a few weeks ago. So who is going to tend to Java and MySQL and all other great technologies we supported?

I used to work for the greatest companies in Silicon Valley and was always treated so extremely well. At Oracle what happened? Was I asleep? Where was my head? Was I that stupid to not See? Who are these owners and managers that don't even write a thank you letter for all the years of great service? Why steal the stock options? My Pay was less than new hires.

What has happened to America? What has happened to the joy of creating a company to better customers lives and then better your employees lives and have fun doing this all in great harmony? What the hell has happened to reasonably priced benefits? What is wrong with these people?

I still have some Mojo left you sons a b--ches.... don't mess with my Java either!

Waiting to see what happens in Minneapolis tomorrow. A big sales hub of SaaS and onpremise. Have no idea. I guess we'll be checking the Oracle HR systems to see when they change our territory or status online. Like we do every year.

If people didn't show up for work and it became public - which is key here - LM would go totally apeS:t - his inflated ego would not be able to stand such an insult. Just do it!

Hell with the unions, they are more trouble than they're worth.

its employment at will, you can leave for greener pastures if you feel mistreated. If enough ppl leave and they can't find replacements due to their bad creds, then they'll change their ways or go down the tubes. Hanging around for more of the same won't help ya.

The damn unions do not have your best interests in mind. you are not doing unskilled labor. Let the free market do its thing.

Have the workers actually considered unionizing? No raises, getting laid off, age discrimination. What have you got to lose? If you pay employees well then they won't unionize, but when you don't and all the execs get rewarded for doing a crappy job, why not?

Unless I am wrong - I don't think the poster meant a union just a short-term jab up their a-- to make a point is all because it would hurt Orkle without the good slaves doing their job even a day..same way as their overnight FU's in the mail.

What is this a union shop? ;-)

Even if this is a union type action, it would take significant sustained and determined efforts for change to happen. Take a look at verizon, detroit auto, etc for recent examples.

will it get their attention? Sure. Will they care? Probably not.

Good idea though.

Tomorrow is Friday. Half the company doesn't go to work on Fridays anyway. Monday's a holiday. Maybe you need to rethink this "sit out" strategy of not showing up .

Yeah!! We have that dumb a-- 56 hours of sick pay, let's ALL just have the temporary "whatever" and just don't show up and don't answer and don't support anything for a week all at the same time. "..It must be in the air filters at the Oracle offices...." then the 3 amigos will get a taste of being thrown out like a 'dog' ... awroooo!

"Thank you" ? Now, that something I have not heard for a long time.

"Was I that stupid to not See?" ? I think all of us were not stupid and but just trying to be human.

Wish you all best buddy.
