Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

There will not be a massive layoff on Tuesday

Don't listen to the fake news on this website, the major RIF is done. Notice that the previous post about a big RIF on Tuesday gave absolutely no specifics. It is just BS from a disgruntled former employee or the competition.

Last week I heard one of the executives admit that reorganization is coming. No further information was disclosed.

Don't be stupid. I left a couple months ago because there's going to be a reorg in June within SPARC HE. Everyone knows it's happening.

The major RIF is underway. It's not done by any means. Even lobs that were already affected by RIFs are going to get more of the same.

In EMEA, sales are going to get hit next. There are enough people in sales in Romania now that can theoretically take the burden.

There's just one problem. There are enough people, but their accumulated experience is virtually none. You have to work two years to start learning the ropes and you have to spend another five years to cut your teeth and be smooth enough to sell sand on Sahara.

There were virtually no experienced sales reps in Romania for Oracle to hire, and those that were, are completely out of touch with the times.

Those that Oracle did hire have zero experience. I'm sure many of them are brilliant and will potentially be very successful reps four to six years down the road. But they'll be working for a different company by then.

It is definitely fake because Tuesday is 5/30.

The huge layoff will be on Thursday, 6/1. People can't even get their dates straight.

Must be Safra (does she still 'work' for Oracle ?) or Mark !

I'm convinced, I'll no longer look at all this "fake news" and "BS".

Thanks for setting the record straight - I can rest easily now.

Or - there again - can I ?

"Something NEEDS to change. I suspect they know that internally and, at least in development, something is going to happen...... layoff people in the U.S. .... move more to India?

That will cut their costs..... but I am not sure that the developers in India are really going to write great software, particularly in the web/cloud area. "

The answer for the above. Yes, developer In India can write great software. At last the team I work with can do it for sure.

I do agree with the things that Thelayoff is full of the comments of any angry employ who had left job.

When I visit layoff for a similar person name as mine and think. Anyone can get bad wordings here.

There will be not even a single company in the US which don't have a layoff. So those things down the reputation of website layoff not of parent website about whom the layoff is.

Need some better moderation.

Something is definitely going on.

I noticed that the marketing directory for PaaS was promoted in March to some strategic vision position. The last update for "what's new in ICS" occurred in Feb, nothing since then. Before that, there were updates every 2 months. That's stopped.

I left Oracle last year. At that time all of the older software maintenance had been moved to India. A lot of the newer cloud stuff was moving that way. Developers from India were being inserted into every development group. There were a lot of older people being re-purposed for cloud development, but a lot of these people did not have the skill set necessary. Doing ADF is NOT the same as real web development.

Many of these people came from places like peoplesoft and jdedwards.... they are business/IT-type people who have no real development experience.

Something NEEDS to change. I suspect they know that internally and, at least in development, something is going to happen...... layoff people in the U.S. .... move more to India?

That will cut their costs..... but I am not sure that the developers in India are really going to write great software, particularly in the web/cloud area.
