Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears Memorial on Memorial Day

I remember being excited to have a job with Sears Holdings and then i found out how much their starting pay was. You having work experience for the position you applied for means nothing. Minimum wage it is. The first few days were the dumbest hours I've ever spent in my life. 3 years later the same computer training they press you to do when you first start is the same thing they're preaching to do now. Nothing has really changed on that end. When I first started each department in my store had lead positions (11)and you could tell some really took pride in their job. Fast forward a year and a half later and now we have only 5 lead positions. Sales at our height was up 20 percent. Now we are negative 16 percent for the year. I remember when we used to do the truck we had on average of 15 people to unload the truck. Now we are lucky if we have 7 people total to do the truck. Outside of government mandated raises we haven't seen 1 since I been there. People jumped ship so fast at our store it was unbelievable. Now the ones that are left must do the work of 3 people with no hours,no money,or any hope things will get better. Weekly budget goes down to $13,000,but they want $30,000 worth of work. They subliminally threaten you about having a job, wanting you to work harder, sacrifice your life, the wellbeing of yourself and your family for the sake of Sears. Management has personal vendettas against employees who search for better opportunity. Management says things like I hope you fail. You will be back, but you can't come back. They want you to follow some anonymous policy someone made up over the weekend so they can cover their A $$ when they fire you. HR is a bigger joke. They don't know nothing, but what come down in an email and when you ask them to clarify something their answer is refer to your handbook or it's in the handbook you should've read it. Even though they change it to fit whatever narrative they are trying to spin. I'll remember this company for the hypocrites they are, have, and will be. They are the 21st century versions of a slave master. You work for pennies. There is no hope of ever moving up. You will never get a raise. They want you to work like you are 3 people then have the nerve to actually get upset when the job is not done on time or faster than they expected. I'll remember Eddie Lampert for using a valuable company and valued employees for personal gain. I'll remember corporate for blaming us the employees, the customers, my dog, my neighbor's cat,and God himself for slumping sales for the last 7 years. On that note I will remember none of you for reading my post.... Thank You. Thank You...

Sincerely, Mr.M Yass

@2raf Yes we are. I chuckle when someone calls me a corporate shill because no I am not saying everything is great, I am just reading and chiming in where I can.....actually not quite sure why I am chiming in to be honest as it doesnt really seem to help. Most of the folks who dont worry or really care arent even reading these posts so in most cases when I get a really rude response to me I am shocked as I come from a good place. Maybe it doesnt come across that way, but I honestly do. There have been a couple strange posts that I dont believe really came from corporate as the folks I know arent mean like that. Most of us are doing what we can. I am not a higher up at corporate so I cant speak to their intent. Every day I go in and try to make the best of challenging times.....I hear the comments too though not like the stores hear the comments. I acknowledge the stores have it tougher due to being the ftont line and now this crazy manipulation of hours etc. No it is not good when half your hours are cut week to week. I cant and wont sugercoat that. I wish I had a solution, but I dont have the influance to change that.

@2htw, check the site rules, no personal identifiable information allowed here. Site admins nuke that kind of posts, and block poster's IP. Wouldn't be surprised if they nuke your post as well for asking of others to give personal info.

I work in the store as a lead (really, not too much higher than associate) and I think to is unfair to call everyone at Hoffman Estates "parasitic".

Don't get me wrong, there are PLENTY of idiotic, lazy or hostile people at Hoffman Estates and unfortunately, much of their handiwork contributes to Sears' demise, but there are also PLENTY of helpful, caring and hard-working people at Hoffman Estates. Those people are probably feeling the same way as you or I are--worried, concerned, disappointed, sad, maybe even mad.

Sears has been an absolute disaster for years, and the so-called management located at Hoffman Estates is to blame. None other. The reason: There has been no real management at Hoffman Estates for years, but instead just a (large) bunch of hamsters and other wanna-be rodents. Try to envision a Hedge Fund Manager, working as a blind neurosurgeon.

Sears has been hated by their own Sears Store employees for years. Why wouldn't such hatred be evident? Sears has honed the "exploit the worker, especially through unusually low wages" doctrine for years. If Sears ever released "screw this crap -- I quit" data from their own Human Resources, it would become very clear that Sears employees have fled in droves and for understandable reason.

It's a wonder why anyone would ever apply for a Sears job at all, or stay more than a week after realizing their error in becoming an employee. Applicants for a Sears job had good intention, of course, and in sharp contrast to the intention of Sears. Sears did not want anyone placed on a level playing field, because such an action would defeat the entire "command and control" B.S.

During this time of "the writing is finally on the wall" with the dismantling of Sears, which is best described as a very welcome disintegration process, the best course of action at this time would be to plan a large block party. Understandably, plenty of booze for all participants, complete with a requirement that participants also be dressed in Sears Roebuck jeans or attired in some other "cheap Chinese" line of Sears clothing.

Forget the rock-n-roll music at the gathering, ... just have a bugler play "Taps." No need for hankies, because there will be no weeping.

The a---kissing lackeys at Hoffman Estates, including the rotund ones who gained astonishing weight from their above-average a-- kissing and s---ing up, will continue drinking their daily Cool-Aid in the boardrooms and stairwells. It's what they do. They're unskilled, and great pretenders. All the while, of course, demonstrating their amazing accomplishments each day to ensure their own jobs may still be available that particular week.

Those Hoffman Estates (Sears) parasites will eventually be gone, of course, and their best and true reward will noticeable. Simply put: They will be forgotten -- on the very day of their dismissal.

Amen brother you understand reality. Hate how delusional some people can be on here. They like to say they are grateful, but for what being exploited? For instance I remember at our peak we were 5 associates, and also our lead. Now there are only two and our lead. They expect miracles with these increasing work loads they're full of it.

This could possibly be the last year of this company. Our last Memorial Day. Our last Christmas as well, because as you know the big loan payment is due after the holiday season (January).

This might be the final memorial day for sears and kmart too. Management is too corrupt and they are getting creamed in sales and will continue to get creamed

That right there is why Sears will fail and those who cannot see it are simply liars for their own personal gain.
