Anyone hearing rumors about an eisp coming soon to the wireline side? There are a lot of retirement seminars being offered lately and a lot of coworkers are getting mailings from companies wanting to manage your lump sum/401k.

In Silver Spring the strikers busted the windshield of a lady going to her assignment. That I know for a fact. There were and are plenty of union pigs but also many others who acted like humans who I have great respect for. But those bad apples are hard to forget. I don't see any gimmees coming from management unless it is a clear advantage to the company to do so.
I prefer a blue collar worker or a cop working the street than some lame a-- businessman any day. The cops are only employees, they don't make the rules.

It DID happen in Albany NY. I was there. The mayor had to get involved before anything was done!!!

The truth? When we go on strike we have to stand in a little metal corral the police set up. The Police, the company lawyers of rich powerful Verizon and the undercover agents all protect EWA workers during a strike. They can get an injunction at lightning speed. Not to mention anything that happens these days will be filmed by somebody. What a liar is 4zga. Worst case scenario he might have heard some salty language.
All the protections workers in America have today were earned and paid for in worker's blood. Literally. Workers were beaten and assassinated by the boss's hired thugs. Now the American worker is being sold down the river once again by @4zga's masters who he defends

There is lots of vitriol toward craft. Most from mgt that get assigned ewa. Im not taking the targeted offer sent to my work group. Im pre 2003 cwa and will work till aug 2019, then see what happens. That last sentence alone makes current mgt mad, because theu are not afforded the luxury of a choice. They must do as upper mgt says...and wait on a rif.

Wow, all I can say is there are a lot of haters out there. I left for health reasons and life after Verizon is great. Would I have loved to have taking the Eisp, yes I would but without surplus in my group I knew that was never coming. Lets see, I got an education thanks to Verizon, great health insurance that covered my family, kinds are now gone. Worked with some great people both Union and Non-Union. The company is not what is was 20 years ago but it is still a good company to work for with great opportunities. If you are a glass is half full kind of person I think you will agree with me. If you are a glass is half empty kind of person then you will disagree with me. I have my pension retirement, and a new career. Life is good and I have Verizon to thank for that. I am not a HQ Troll, but I am retired CWA and proud to have worked for the company as an Union member. I would not have had the opportunities presented to me if not for CWA and what they fought for so that it's members can better themselves with all the benefits.
If you are not happy with your pay, with your job, with your education opportunities, no one is stopping you from leaving. I was an old timer who put in his time and the stress of the job was getting to me, so it was my time to leave and I did it with my head held high and a positive outlook. I got my new job on my first interview after retiring and Verizon on a resume looks great.

But the guarantee comes at a cost, many managers (at least those above first level) earn much more than union workers, Yes, no job security and now no pension, but the extra money in a 401(K) helps and if RIFd, you can get a somewhat similar job.
But I do agree that there is nothing wrong with self-interest, whether waiting for a good EISP or a RIF. Unless there is a great opportunity elsewhere, leaving voluntarily can be leaving LOTS of money on the table (e.g. up to 35 weeks of salary and 35+ weeks of benefits).
Yes I am entitled. There is no shame in that. Anyone is entitled to what is spelled out in a signed contract. whether it be the sale of a home, car or whatever transaction. Preforming labor for agreed upon terms and conditions is a transaction as well. If you choose to be unentitled and work without an agreed upon contract that is your choice. One that is rather foolish since terms and conditions can change at will, sort of like renting a place to live without a lease. Only a fool would do such a thing.
Talk about $ucking farts....management has NO pension AND they have to pay for their insurance ($650 a month) when they retire...or get riffed, whichever comes first. All of the good managers left years ago....only the rejects are left. They don't know how to do the job of the people that they supervise...how smart is that?

I hope they offer one soon to the copper splicers. The fiber splicers are busy and most of them are young, so they probably wouldn't even consider leaving. Other garages are in the same boat. I've heard they hired temps to do fios work over the summer....but there is very little work on the copper side. Most copper splicers are older and have been here a long time, so if there isn't any work in their department, you would think the company would offer something to encourage them to leave. Copper is going the way of the dinosaur. The future is in cellular and fiber.
Forget the CSSC then. The only time they got offered it was when the company had to offer an EISP company wide. That will never happen again!
