BAML Layoffs

What about the mechanics of the layoff? How do they do it? Do they schedule a meeting, conference call, etc...

Depends on your location and manager. If your in the same location as your manager, the tell you in th am and walk you out.

Some managers know a week or so out, but a lot of them don't know until the day before, say Tuesday afternoon. You are called into an office or if you are mywork your manager calls you to give you the bad news. Usually, about 1pm directors do a quick pull up and tell everyone there was an associate action that day and all notifications have been made, which indieectly tells everyone receiving the news that "if you are hearing this, you're not being laid off today." Depending on your role and group you may work through the day or pack up right then and get paid for two weeks, which then the severence kicks in. If you are in the office you get your folder with all the info then, if you are ooo your manager overnights it to you. Mgmt does not send you the paperwork or give it to you until they have communicated the action (ie laid you off. Don't want an associate to suddenly get a package in the mail without that communication). Usually your email and access is cut that day.
