I hear there might be a big reorg at Charles Schwab and that even more work can be sent offshore. Now, this is just what I heard and I am not sure how reliable this info is but in my group people think that up to 50% of us might be made redundant. Now, you never know what will happen but the job market is OK here in the Bay Area so we will be fine. Just wanted to share this info as I see no other posts here.

This is crazy. When does it start?
If you're in SF in IT you should have seen the writing on the wall for a long long time now. If you haven't here is a hint - start looking, its a matter of time before all the jobs are in Texas. You're in SF the tech capital of the planet, you'll be fine.
Our last set of layoffs occurred in October. This should complete the near term geo strategy laid forth by the executive committee. I am starting an exciting career in electronics at Salesforce.com. They have a new shiny spanking building, with another one in the works. I went back to DevRy to get my degree, and am starting an exciting career in electronics, paid for with my generous severance package.
With interest rates sluggish, offshore and contractors cheaper, what else can you expect. Sad, great people and culture.
Tech will always have layoffs.
Technologies come and go, if you don't keep up from the skills perspective - you are out...
