Thread regarding Sears layoffs

store manager jumping ship

Well it was announced yesterday that our Sears store manager is leaving this Friday to go to a different retail store chain. A surprise but not really, now they have to try and find someone else to take this job.

How about other stores? Are managers also leaving ? Do they know something the rest of do not know?

?

I heard 3 Store Managers this week in our market are putting in their notice. Can't say I blame them. Get out before the ship finish sinking. Same size stores, less staff, less hours, and they want more results. More set ups and picture validations. We still shout about credit and PAs even though we continue to nose dive in sales. If we stocked it, signed it and built a culture around customer service and sales we wouldn't need to focus on these side business revenue boosters (PAs and Credit). Look at stores doing well: Home Depot, Best Buy, TJ Maxx, Burlington ect. Basic process = sales = positive EBITDA. Sears will always live in the past and won't ever give up on credit and PAs. Don't get me started on SYW! Have you checked your P & L for the loss column in SYW.

The ex-manager wants a job with a company that is growing not dying. Pretty simple.

You must live under a rock or you are dumb as a rock to ask a stoopid question like that

I am a ASM and have also been invloved with a store closing we did not know the store was closing until the day it was announced.... if i can find another job now i also will be leaving because my GM is a waste of air .... he does nothing to help us out on the floor let alone touch a register with no hours to give to the cashier's so we as managers have to ring on a daily basis,,, this company used to be a great place to work, now it is a horrible place . I hate going in every day .... if these buyout are going to happen plz let it happen soon !!!

I am a part-time CSA in appliances. My BC ASM left and cashed out her pension after being told her job was being consolidated with the HI ASM position. The HI ASM left also. She had over 30 years with Sears and was one of the best bosses I have ever worked for and knew practically everything about everything and always had our backs. Our new ASM is coming from another store in the region, I don't envy her situation.

I can't imagine store managers know anything different than the rest of us. She/he probably is just nervous about the future in general and decided to try something different.

I think they do know but just don't want to tell out of fear they will have no one left to do things for them
