I don't know if this is true for all Sears stores but we don't have any HR people. The cash room people put in the punch corrections, sick time, vacation time and payroll. That's it. There is no one to train new hires. In the past it was leads, managers & the cash office girls being lazy about it. Now there are very limited hours for the leads and cash office so no time. People are being hired but hours for existing staff are cut so although you may not have needed the trainers before, you could use them now.

The computer segno training, although it sounds the same is learning legal compliance and how to do your specific job. The other is intro to the company and more importantly making the employees aware of company policies and having them sign for these policies.

how is this different from HR and online training? Seems like the same thing, and if it is then they need to go.

And our market trainer was laid off yesterday immediately following a training.

Market trainers come to the stores to onboard new hires. This means playing corporate videos about SHC, copying ids, going through the handbook with the new hire, getting signatures for the handbook and policies, touring the store, etc. Takes 4 hours.

You have a territory that you travel. You may do other things like train for credit but I never saw that in action.

Now all this is going to be done through the store managers with the help of videos. Maybe the same videos as before, I don't know. In my store the managers and leads barely show for the interviews so I can't see them spending time on training. There usually isn't anyone around to even show how to logon and get to Segno.

@inn, is Thursday the lay off day? Seems like every week.

Are the market trainers the woman that comes into the store to play the videos of Leena talking about the SHC culture for the new hires?

Finally. Have been trying for years to figure out what those people do that we can't handle in store ourselves.
