Here comes the final good bye

I see the final good byes are coming on the email. I did not find a job in 30 days either. So, VPN will be deactivated shortly.

That's nonsense, that article and the lawsuit has nothing to do with hiring in India (vs. US). Companies relocate jobs to "cheaper" geographies all the time (in quotes because I personally don't believe it saves Oracle anything if you factor in productivity of individuals and distributed teams).

It's illegal and Oracle is already being sued by the US Department of Labor for favoring certain employees based on race -- http://www.reuters.com/article/us-oracle-usa-labor-idUSKBN1522O6. If it is possible to get the evidence out without impacting yourself, get it to the media and/or the Dept of Labor!

Contact the media local and national and have the write it up/ broadcast it to embarrass oracle. It may or may not Be illegal, but I bet you LE, MH, and SC don't want this conduct written up in News papers or broadcast on TV news. Just do it!

I don't like it particularly either, but what law does it violate? Job openings and roles can be tied to a particular location, for whatever reasons.

"We were told specifically we were not allowed to hire internally unless the candidate was in India."

Can SOMEONE stealthily record this sort of damning thing on their smartphone? Can multiple people testify to this for the record??? We all know it goes on; this is ILLEGAL. Can we get PROOF of this that would stand up in Federal court...besides just posting on layoff.com?

I'm tired of all the lowball, cut-rate overseas scabs destroying our profession....

I'd love to see a landmark lawsuit ....pipe dream I suppose

We were told specifically we were not allowed to hire internally unless the candidate was in India. There were several people let go in the US we really wanted, but our team lacked the political clout to make it happen.

I have been here for 16 years. They gave me the layoff notice on June 1. I had until the end of this month (today) to find a job. I think most of the managers want to hire 'Cloud' talent from Amazon and other companies. There is no interest in hiring an 'old database guy'. I spoke to a PM Director and he was told by management not to hire internal transfers.

From what I've heard, technical field positions in the US which were impacted by the workforce "restructuring" on June 1 were given until today to find another job in Oracle. For those who didn't care to find a spot or who weren't able to, today is their last day.

It will be interesting to hear how many positions suddenly disappear from the organization count on Monday. I have to wonder if it was played this way as a tactic for MH to be able to cover his CNBC lie about there being no layoffs in June.

Wow - you were given 30 days? Most of us, despite very "mobile" job skills to other positions and groups at Oracle, are just handed out boxes that day. It is absolutely baffling that a company believes it can just hire people off the street and be productive, when in fact it takes months and years to figure out the labyrinthine ways to actually get business done and be effective. So good luck Oracle!! such fools....
