140 Digital employees last week. Add the 135 or so who took June buout offer.

Then include 50 Capital CTO employees.

And 300 that were divested in the fire sale.

Started this 1 year ago with population of 1200.

Much speculation that since the tax abatement expires soon, the site will close.

Sad days.

Best move I made was to take the GE Digital package. I am very interested to see if the Detroit site suffers layoffs and possible site closure altogether before year end.

If only 35 were laid off at the AMSTC/DTH out of roughly 850 workers, that's only about 4% when it's likely the target was much higher. I would expect another round of layoffs in Michigan.

With severance packages, the first offer is always the best offer. Companies don't sweeten the offer. Involuntary layoffs with reduced severance (unemployment and 1 week of severance for every year of service), is likely the next step in reducing costs. Now GE can pick and choose which "roles will be eliminated" and dump whomever they please. It's legalized discrimination. Good Luck to all.

Take the severance. Once you're away from your abusive relationship with GE, you will feel much better about yourself, your job and your life. I can only hope that the incompetent management that created this mess gets theirs some day.

Does anyone find it weird that Vic Abate never made an attempt to explain the Jan 31 layoffs? Never publicly spoke about it? Never sent a stand email memo to GRC saying 'hey, this s---s, I know...but we are strong as a company'? He never said anything about it. He ignored it. Pretended it never happened. A few days after the massive layoff...there was a town hall style meeting for GRC...about 4-5 of Vic's surrogates sat on high stools and announced how difficult the decision to lay people off was...but that it was important to do it big and do it once...and now the company structure was changing...blah blah blah I love how Vic didn't show up to that but should a leader show up when things get tough?

Vic really helped get the Power business onto the road to ruin. I'm not surprised that he still has the Fecal Midas touch at GRC.

GE is a horrible unethical company. I know it is stressful to be layed off from GE. I was layed off from GE Power in March. But it has been the best thing that ever happened to me. I am so glad to be away from that joke of a company. You will be glad soon that you're gone. Take the lump sum and DO NOT LOOK BACK. GE will continue to fail as they are the most unethical company on the planet. Customers are fully aware.

At the Digital Thread Hub, I do not know of one single Indian that took the layoff. Not one, just whites.

What's happening at GRC in 2018? More layoffs? That is not too far off.....

Yes, the GRC big lie... We were told straight-up that the January 2017 lay-off would be the only one until 2018. It used to be that integrity was the heart and soul of GE. Now we learn that a fish rots from the head.

John Flannery and Trian please take note. GE only needs one more 2017 lay-off at GRC. Goodbye, Vic. Then the rest of us can reset and get back to adding value to the businesses. Thank you!

Yes, we at GRC we're told that the "difficult decision" of Jan 31 was going to be it. In face they specifically said that the reason there were so many layoffs was because they "wanted to have to do it just once"...but they layoffs haven't stopped. They are trying to keep it as quiet as possible. No announcement...except to direct team....and definitely no press.

I've lost faith in the company...so disappointed and not at all proud to be a part of this laughable company.

The OP is referring to a group of GE Global Research (GRC) employees based at the Michigan Digital Thread Hub (formerly AMSTC) site. This team was affected by the GRC layoffs on January 31. Yesterday, all 14 remaining employees in that group were laid off. This is the latest of several smaller layoffs at GRC, following the large layoff (~200 people) on January 31. Those of us still working at GRC hate the torture of these sequential layoffs, after being told the January 31 layoff would be the only one. And we hate not knowing what's next.

GE seems to have a sick obsession with layoffs. They do it so often they either enjoy it or are incapable to make proper leadership decisions to reduce the layoff need. Maybe a combination of both.

The name AMSTC was changed to Digital Technical Hub about a year ago. It houses mostly GE Digital employees. The number was around 35 that took voluntary exit. The employees that left was their decision as they felt they did not fit in the new structure for the center. Not clear if mandatory layoffs are coming. I believe they will ask many to change roles to fit new structure.

I believe the number is much higher than 15 although I don't know exactly how many.
