Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

100% Confirmed: Lowes Sales Specialists Are Losing Their jobs

Our store had a meeting yesterday with all the Sales Specialists. They will be losing their jobs.

Whether it's a quick exit with unemployment benefits or like the DM's when they were told is not decided yet. And yes, our store will be going to 1 ASM. They said probably the Sales Manager as no need now that there will be no more Sales Specialists.

The greedy id--ts from the top down are a-s holes and need to be taken down. These dirt bags are screwing with peoples lives. It's so bad that managers are harassing employees about pushing credit where there is no opportunity fir it. Pushing everything under the sun forcing extra projects to be completed by a certain time then harassing employees for not down stocking after they come in from yet another request to go outside and collect carts and put away returns. I'd like to demand that everyone from the top down be dr-g tested. If the current CEO are other executives are not removed they will destroy Lowe's

Spiffs are not necessarily coming back but some convoluted formula for figuring out the rewards ($495 per hour selling or some such bs). Guaranteed to ensure you do not get any incentives ever.

People keep complaining about there not being any help and store manager wants higher ltr scores but it just isn't possible with so little coverage and so few associates on the floor at any given time.

First cut will be down to one specialist per department will be no the best performer who’s staying just the one make less . Later everything will be change to CSA par timers . Lowe’s play all their cards on overstocking stores, marketing not real deals , and loyal customers to the brand. Results could be temporary good to help the CEO to retain his job long enough for healthier retirement while a great company will be falling apart.

Specialist aren't going away anytime soon. Unless they are expecting regular CSA's to try to sell customers credit, business accounts, follow up with leads,3 etc

this post = complete bs.
we had our typical specialist 2 pm meeting and they handed out gift cards!
the only associates left in our entire bldg are the specialists. we have 1 per dept, very few csa's, the rest MST's .. if our store loses any more people, it will literally not be able to function at all.

THIS IS ALL THE NEW CEO CAVING TO THE STOCK HOLDERS. THE b—s— THAT STOCK HOLDERS ARE MORE VALUABLE THAN THE ASSOCIATES IS BACKWARD THINKING. MARVIN IS SINKING OUR COMPANY AND HE GETS A BIG BONUS. CUTTING LABOR AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR SEASON, THEN LAYOFFS AT THE END OF YOUR SEASON IS THE MENTALITY OF SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO BUILD A COMPANY FOR THE FUTURE. MARVIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS DOES THE COMPANY'S VISION!!

Wall Street backlash kept this from happening fully.

Too many layoffs to close together.

Big Hedge Funds would pull out, its just how they think.

How did layoffs work for Sears and Kmart?

Its like Cancer, just a matter of time.

Why would you hire a CEO from defunct J.C Penny,

are they still in Business anyway?

Poster from New Mexico, what you describe is/has happened at my store as well. An employee was written up for viewing this very site while on his lunch break. Others have been written up for having "negative attitudes" that management says is destroying moral. Now, full timers are quitting and being replaced by part time employees. One cashier needed an override and before she got it the line went to the middle of the store. Customers were abandoning their carts and/or heading to the registers in building materials, customer service, and garden center.

It's bad all over.

So far in New Mexico just denial and attempts to squash so called rumors. Managers are now threatening us if we are found discussing losing our jobs, which some of us rely on and enjoy by the way, we will be punished. A great way to treat your loyal and professional staff who is merely fearful of losing their job and concerned their employer is hiding it from them to protect business. Like in nursery school. It is all their way. The proof will be in the pudding at the end of the month or whenever they do take action. They want us to help our customers love where they shop but our customers are getting very cranky with the personnel cuts, long waits for help, and associates pleading with code 3 calls and no managers coming to our assistance. We now send them directly to customer service to scream at the managers instead of us. Fake support when we are told to call them if we need help. There are always two or three more important things they are doing, cannot break away, and when they finish those more important things, they forget and never even show up afterall. We have to beg for overrides. And our customers keep waiting and waiting....Customers are storming out in much greater numbers than ever. For all of the great business building things they have tried, this one is a flop before it gets out of the gate. The inexperienced part timers will never gain the confidence of the customer and they have no interest except to collect a paycheck for doing as little as possible. Lowes will soon attract a much lower profile employee and their sales will slump in the stores. Our loyal customers will not tolerate this. They expect educated or experienced associates on the floor to assist them so they can have the confidence that they are being led positively as they invest in improving their homes...

It makes perfect sense to get rid of specialists, especially since their main partners at store level (installs), are being being moved to a call center with no idea of what is happening at the local level. We even had a Specialist meeting, where the store manager took time on his day off, to tell us it wasn't true (it's always possible he has no idea either), but I didn't believe a word of it. Yes I fear for my job (which I used to love, but now dread), but it just motivates me to find something new and better...outside the company. Thank you to everyone at corporate, for trying to run a company I was proud to work for, into the ground.

So what do people do . Go back to your history books around a century ago and read what our families and co-workers did . After they lost everything and lived in tents . They got together knowing that talking meant nothing . Then they sacrificed even there lives to get better for them , their families and looking generations ahead . Now these last 2 generations got soft , not about to do anything for all but became a ME only .And now since companies KNOW that have us on the ropes , they will have us living in shacks the way they do in nearly every country in the world . Most companies don't care if you fall dead where you stand . But they do care if they have to give your family anything for it . My advise to the young workers , ORGANIZE . YOUNG MEN GET YOUR TESTOSTERONE BACK .

Jesus people, get a grip! Before the last restructure, Who made the largest bonuses? The department managers. After they were reassigned and bonus taken away, who gets the next highest bonuses? Specialist! If you think this isn't happening you are delusional. First they took away spiffs, now they are going away from bonuses.

Perhaps these stores where this has already happend is just a test phase like they did with the first phase... tried it out in a couple stores to see how well it works and then rolled it out company wide.... Dont be blind you f---s.... it's happening

Our store had a meeting too, with the specialists. Sounds like a demotion more than an outright

loss of job. In any case, somethings up. It wasn't a "sales" meeting.

I dont trust Lowe's nor do I trust the comments in here all I can say is, if Lowe's does do something like getting rid of all Sales specialist its corporate suicide. I'm specialist and all im going to do is wait and see cause if they let me go I know for a fact that I have customers that will follow me if I take my talents to HD.

July is a great time for Lowe's to restructure the stores staffing. We all know that right after July 4th sales slow way down. So, I predict that they will jettison all of the high earners. Seems to be a pattern. Lowe's is a shell of its former self. Niblock is out to become wealthy on the backs of the deplorables!

If Lowe's is trying to Help People love where they live, how can they expect that when their employees don't even love where they work?! I've been with Lowe's for 4 years now. I used to love coming to work. I loved my job. Now, I dread the moment my alarm clock goes off.

If this restructure is true, Lowe's will fall. How can they expect to keep employees when there will be no where for them to advance? Why would they want to come to work there knowing very well that it will be as far as they can ever go?

We got a new store manger this year and he is absolutely HORRIBLE. While "helping " a customer in plumbing, I walked by and witnessed him standing there looking away and biting his nails. How professional. He's also come to work, still drunk. My Lowe's used to be in the top 50 stores....i can't see that for us anymore.

R.I.P Lowe's.

There are currently three ASM's in each store I think so if the sales ASM was let go then still another needs to go. Can't picture Lowe's making an announcement without knowing if the specialists are to be let go immediately or given six months. Maybe someone is leaking info to the specialists in this particular store but this story could be bull by some idiot trying to upset people. Part timers can't do the specialist job or adequately support customers. Most end up not getting hired because they can't pass drug testing and the ones hired just run and hide plus take breaks all day. The only people selling are the specialists and a few full time CSA's. If this takes place, I guarantee sales will go down because the store will be filled with a few part timers who just don't care about the customer or sales or Lowes. In our store, losing the OPE specialist meant losing a lot of revenue. Now, if they get rid of flooring, cabinet and appliance specialists in my store, then forget the store even making enough sales for the store to stay open. Better way to save is crack down on theft and close the store at 8 or 9. Staying open til 10 is a waste and all that shops late are shoplifters.

Full of crap because a restructure isn't a one store deal. They wouldn't just cut Specialists at your store & tell your store only that it'll be going to 1 ASM without it being a company wide announcement.

As usual, fake news again & trying to stir the pot.

Lowes has taken away all potential career growth for any CSA they hire. What are the incentives to work hard and to provide excellent customer service? They need to remember that employee morale drives everything-...sales, etc. Big mistake.
