Just saw this in my feed - Microsoft is doing exactly what we've done - they are consolidating and reorg-ing sales teams to put more emphasis on the cloud. They do not know what's the impact yet, but I am sure they are underestimating how profound the change will be for the sales group - tears will be shed, stay tuned....

I saw that too! IT is undergoing another massive shift not unlike the shift to the Internet in the 90s, and the shift in IT employment going offshore in the 00's. Every product is either built in the cloud entirely, is being re-worked for the cloud or something in between. It isn't a surprise that the companies that started either in the Cloud, or at least closer to it, are the ones leading the pack now. Microsoft pooh-poohed the Internet, not even building a TCP/IP stack into Windows until the mid-90's. Larry pooh-poohed the Cloud much longer than he should have, and is now trying to turn the massive Ship of Oracle around quickly, while throwing off as much ballast as possible.
They are long overdue here - also, they do not 'sell' that much at all - it's mostly 'order taking' when it comes to MSFT... Customers already know what they want... Their ERP offering is a joke too...
