Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

It's July. The countdown begins!

Perhaps in 3 weeks we'll hear rumblings about the annual LR festival coming.

LR heads up #1: My manager has been avoiding 1:1 meetings and our team has nothing much work to do..

It does feel almost inevitable that another re-run of the Hunger Games is just around the corner, but, in better news, the lists have most likely already been compiled and submitted at this stage so you can relax knowing you did all you could to get onto/avoid the golden list for this FY.

At least I've made it long enough to secure another bonus for this year. Provided Cisco decides to pay it at all.

You hope! Last year in Sept, there were lots of threads and posts on threads with people stating that their manager screwed them out of their bonus, and that was in a year where Cisco clearly met its performance goals.

I recall more than a few posts where someone posted that they'd had years of better than core performance reviews, got the full mid-year bonus in March, and suddenly they were LR'd and their bonus rating was such that they got either nothing, or less than $250 instead of the remaining 50% of the target bonus.

Better hope you're not one of the suddenly LR'd group. Even though you're still an employee at year's end and eligible, your manager may take your bonus money and use it to fund the bonus for all the remaining employees so they don't quit. I mean, how would you feel if you survived a LR, but then fell in the bottom 5% and weren't eligible for a bonus? And how would that make the manager look by keeping a bottom 5%-er and LR'ing a person whose performance was good enough for a bonus?

Your bonus is not secured until after the impacted people are notified and you're not one of them.

is it good to join it in august ? i have the offer

Yes. You're good for this year. The list has already been made and it's too late to put you on it. You'll probably be replacing someone, so don't expect to have many friends.

Just kidding. But, if your team is hiring this year, it may be getting thinned out next year. And, who knows, you might actually be replacing someone. But they usually replace us impacted by the LRs with contractors.

There is enough drama, politics, and general bizzare internal situational shenanigans to make two sequel movies to the original "Office Space" movie; this time it could have an international cast...

MmmKay...hey we just need you to move your cube contents to the shared workspace...

TUR report will be replaced by LR report...

"Red Stapler" tie in...still need to think of a good sequel correlation...

Cisco just fired 6,600 employees and probably forced another 3,400 to quit. Do you really think they will have another layoff?
