Thread regarding Sears layoffs

SIMPLE STORE

The term simple store is a insult to whoever works at a Kmart store. There is nothing simple about it, you change a few processes here and there which really doesn't amount to much and then cut people and payroll that makes the original process much easier. Its the same executives covering their asses under each new executive team Eddie hires so they can keep their jobs but the real problem in this company this this group of geniuses. If you want to know who it is just look at the tools right above the regional managers they have been at this company way to long and always have a way of sticking around just like a bad case of herpes.

@nhz I think the intention is to be a much smaller company and move forward. This will not be good for a lot of associates but some stores will make it.

Most brick and mortar retailers are operating under a simple store format. Kohls, JCPenney, Big Lots, and Ross are some examples. The concept is not new. It is being implemented in our company for the same reasons competitors have chosen to do the same -- it is for greater operational efficiency.

Our front-end 'lead' (even though we're not budgeted for a front-end lead, she still calls herself that) is excited for the computer at the supervisor station. Just another place for her slobby-self to lean during shifts.

that is my fear exactly getting shafted after the many years of loyal service... big training call today showing the store leaders how to get people hired into the stores with the market trainers being let go, just another step in the closing of the door... or is it? why train us to get this done if we are going bankrupt in a month do seem like it would be worth it ... so maybe this is a look in the right direction

My old store went to the simple program last fall, then we had the layoff of An assistant manager, dock lead, pantry lead, pricing, and shoe lead. Now the store is slated to close in September, a slippery slope. I feel for those still left there, especially if there is a bankruptcy and they end up not getting severance after all they've been through.
