Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Stock....bad

The stock appears it's on life support. A few blimps , but pretty much a low flat line. Pull the plug doctor , we've all suffered enough.

Only hope is that they split this Co up and sell its parts. Field guys that know the business and care will survive but the "yes sir" managers that have been put into place and are only following directives from VPs without true knowledge of the products, services or markets will be left holding the bag. The true workers will make it, bumpy, but make it.

The company has forced out all the people that really cared about the company because they were devoted, and in the company's eyes made to much money. It is all about $$$, what you have left are the cheapest labor and bottom feeders that were too hard to catch and release into the general population. Supervisors and management have no idea as to how to run this place nor there crews. The down talking to your employees and treating us like dirt will not get this place where it could be. Time to clean house with middle management if this place is to ever make it in the future. My super is the biggest loser.

There was a company years ago called Enron that promised great results by investing in the stock purchase program.

Wait for the bump when all that employee money is dumped in to buy at their 10% discount the start of next month. Sell that day as it is the only day you stand to make money - maybe after fees and tax you'll net a couple percent. Why would you invest your future savings here, your job is already in question with the way the company is performing. Save the money, you'll need it soon enough

Weatherford is a company that did poor in good times and has done terrible in bad times. Managers that can't manage and sales reps that can't sell. Houston is a good example of this. 80% of all the work in the oilfield is sold at or influenced out of Houston, Texas. These guys just can't get it done. I've seen the Baker and Halliburton guys get hired on over the years and after about 6 months they get that deer in the head light look and wonder why they came to Weatherford. Don't get me wrong these guys were good for a laugh or two and to drink a beer with on Weatherford time with a Weatherford dime but at the end of the day they moved on to greener pastures. Hell I should know I was there !

I suppose you could lose money in the stock purchase program if WFT shuts its doors.

Trying to lump WFT in with 'competitors'. That is funny. WFT is in a class all its own.

Might consider around $3-$3.10 or break of $3.70 for a swing. Longterm trend not great for WFT or competitors.

You do not lose any money if you participate in ESPP. Worst case scenario you get about 10% return before taxes because your base purchase price is the lower of end or beginning period.

I wonder how many were foolish enough to enroll in the employee stock purchase program ? Right now they would have been better off investing in dirt
